I recently visited the remote town of Stehekin to see flood damage firsthand and hear from impacted residents at a community meeting. The only way to get to Stehekin is via boat, plane, or on foot. My son Jack and I decided to hike in on the Chelan Lakeshore Trail. Here are some highlights from our 18-mile backpacking trip. Some things you should know if you're interested in doing the hike: The trail starts at Prince Creek, which is only accessible by boat. You can take a ferry from Chelan or Field’s Point Landing. Despite the trail name, you’re not down by the lake the whole hike and there is a lot of climbing and descending. Be prepared for a net elevation gain of about 4,000 feet. Be prepared for heat — the trail gets a lot of sun exposure. Make sure you bring plenty of water, sunscreen and cool layers to help keep you from overheating. There are sections that are quite brushy. Enjoy your time out there and make sure you give yourself time to explore Stehekin before taking the ferry back to Chelan. The bakery is incredible.

Many wealthy WA tech/philanthropy elites have deep financial ties to China. China's model is the ultimate state control template: high surveillance, social credit, centralized education/indoctrination, suppressed dissent, and economic dependency. By pushing policies that weaken family authority (early childhood state programs, equity over basics, mental health as gateway to more intervention), it moves toward a more collectivist, government-dependent population, easier to manage, like China's approach. "Economic mobility" and "climate" funding often align with globalist agendas that benefit China (cheap labor, green tech supply chains dominated by China). Why this "ruins kids" in practice: It diverts focus from the proven drivers of success (stable two-parent homes, rigorous reading/math, discipline) to identity, dependency, and bureaucracy. Kids end up in failing schools, chaotic cities, and systems that track them from pre-K into lifelong government aid. The Ballmers get legacy + influence. Unions get jobs/power. Politicians get votes. China-style control creeps in via soft power (tech, education, economic leverage). It's not cartoon villainy, it's ideological blindness + self-interest creating a machine that prioritizes control and equity theater over actual child outcomes.
