Kat - they receive ZERO federal benefits or entitlements. None. No housing. No food stamps. No Social Security. And they must purchase their own health insurance so they are not a burden on hospitals or ERs. At the same time, they pay full taxes. They contribute to the system, without drawing from it. Paying in. Not taking out. And on top of that: $1,000 per year + 1% of income. This $$ goes straight to debt reduction and investing in the American workforce.
Kat@Katheee001

@RepMariaSalazar What about welfare? All these "dignity" people will be lifetime recipients of free housing, free food, free healthcare and free school.

@Lily4Liberty You should drop the "that have committed crimes" part and I'm with you. Deport all illegal aliens you can't be illegal without breaking the law so they are all criminals.

WRONG.. and it’s ironic because this completely ignores what the bill actually does. It does NOT block deportations. Recent arrivals (who came under Biden) are deportable. Criminals are deportable. No exceptions so ICE can focus on their important mission. This section ensures people eligible for the Dignity Program (must have evidence of being here BEFORE 2021) are not deported while they are applying for Dignity Program. If they fail to meet processing requirements, they will be deported. However, the 24 month timeline is likely too long. It can be shortened significantly to sync up with the time needed to stand up the Dignity program. That’s how legislating works… it gets refined. And yes, I welcome the feedback. As my #1 fan @basedMikeLee can tell you, we are on the 3rd(?) version of the SAVE America Act because small changes to text actually have big implications. Most bills are amended along the way.
Wall Street Mav@WallStreetMav

@RepMariaSalazar I read it. Sec. 2303(d) basically blocks all deportations by ICE. x.com/WallStreetMav/…

Immigration brings out strong passions. Good. It should. Because it affects every single American. But before echoing the noise, look at the facts. The Dignity Act is clear: NO path to citizenship. NO federal benefits. Criminals get deported- NO MERCY. Instead, you come forward, you admit you broke the law, you pay the price. This is NOT a free pass… It is accountability. You’ve seen the facts. Now get it right.

Here’s the context. The Dignity Act was written BEFORE H.R. 1, when Congress significantly increased immigration personnel. So we worked to build a bipartisan solution to a real problem: not enough personnel to process asylum claims. Because this bill ends catch and release. People are kept in federal custody until their case is decided. That’s how you STOP abuse. Completely. But if you’re going to enforce the law, you need the staff to do it right. That’s where this idea comes in. It’s modeled after a proven program that incentivizes professionals to serve where they’re needed most, offering PARTIAL student loan repayment in return for service. And let’s be clear: this isn’t new. Federal loan forgiveness programs already exist across government. Again - open to ideas and feedback on this.

This is a new idea, modeled on the Rural Physician Loan Repayment program AND we’re open to feedback. It’s not core to the bill. And with new funding for DHS personnel under H.R. 1, the OBBB, it may not even be necessary. Bottom line: we’re focused on what matters: enforcement, accountability, and getting this right.
Brick Suit@Brick_Suit

@RepMariaSalazar Ok. I read your "Dignidad" act. What's up with the part where lawyers get their loans forgiven for defending illegals? You want taxpayers to fund lawyers to give illegal aliens permanent residency! Screw you and your Spanish language "Dignidad" act.

1/ A lot of people are asking: what about the 1986 Reagan immigration bill? Let’s be clear. It was a failure of EPIC proportions. That’s exactly why we have so many illegal immigrants today.
hernando arce@hernandoarce

In 1986 Ronald Reagan gave AMNESTY to 3 million illegal aliens in return for a secure border. We never got national security for 40 years. Fool me once shame on you….fool me twice shame on me ! We demand MASS deportation including millions of over stay visa invaders. We will never agree to AMNESTY!!!

@Outoftime1143 @RepMariaSalazar Lol sure thing bud. I've found that when people immediately throw specific insults it's a reflection of what they fear being called. So I'll assume you are 5'2" and about 285 pounds. Did I scare you with my idea?

There’s no such thing as “birthright citizenship for illegal aliens.” The U.S. Constitution is abundantly clear that if you are born in the United States, you are a citizen. Trying to take away citizenship from Americans is not only extreme, but also unconstitutional.
Senate Republicans@SenateGOP

Birthright citizenship for illegal aliens isn’t compassion—it’s a national security loophole. President Trump is closing it. Democrats are fighting to keep it wide open.

@RepMariaSalazar Will this theoretically stop illegal immigration under a theoretical Democrat president in 2028? We won’t see 10 million like we did with Biden?

There’s a fundamental misconception about what “amnesty” really means. Amnesty is looking the other way: no consequences, no accountability, just more chaos. That’s the system we’ve had for decades. The Dignity Act ends it with enforcement, accountability, real penalties, and ZERO tolerance for criminals. That’s not amnesty. That’s law and order!

But who decides what that "common set of values" is? There is no longer any unified culture that enjoys a consensus. Forget Muslims. Conservatives and liberals disagree pretty profoundly on what it means to be American. And that's okay in a pluralistic country.
Razib Khan 🧬 ✍️@razibkhan

shadi's point here is muddled. he acknowledges that assimilation happened before (with jews and catholics etc.) but asks "why do we need that now?" well, we're a democratic republic and we need some common set of values unless we want to just say we're separate nations...

This war has really opened my eyes to something: a lot of people in Japan, America, Europe, & other countries have no clue what real Islam actually is. We Arabs from the Arabian Peninsula and the Gulf the original heart of Islam don’t tolerate extremists in our countries. Our societies are genuinely tolerant. We welcome people from all backgrounds whether they’re different in race or religion. It’s never been an issue for us. The real hardliners and extremists run away from our region and head straight to Europe, America, Japan, & places like that. They take advantage of your freedom of speech in the worst way possible and try to tear down your customs, your culture, & your way of life. Sadly, you keep giving them that space & then later you blame Islam for the mess These people don’t represent Islam at all. What they carry is a harsh, twisted ideology mixed with their own backward cultural habits from back home none of it has anything to do with us! So please, stand strong against political Islam and groups like the Muslim Brotherhood, Hezbollah, and all the other extremists. Come visit the UAE, Dubai, & the Gulf. See for yourselves who the real Arabs and real Muslims are !
