I will get stuck into tuning and testing Tinygrad Mac M3 and RTX Pro 6000 Workstation 300w edition and a Razer eGPU TB5 edition. @__tinygrad__ Lets see how we go.

factorio manifets just the easiest dimention of complex systems: constraints and bottleneks and none of the resisting the entropy eating your software, hardware and orgranizational structures alive in time and space poor observability, world model incompleteness, probabilistic outcomes

if you are interested in getting into AI, the best way today is to start with karpathy's videos on backprop/gradient descent and then get pufferlib (puffer dot ai) and start training models

@TheCherno yes! your initial game engine series taught me so much, i always recommend it to juniors wherever i work! would love to see what's possible with ai. also some spin on it? webgpu engine? or an engine using only latest vulkan stuff?

I use different alarm song tunes to signal different meanings for alarms, such as relaxed morning vs normal morning vs rushed morning, etc. What’s a better wake up alarm song for when you need your wake up alarm to signal it’s one of those mornings where there can be absolutely zero tolerance for hitting the snooze button: Mozart’s Rondo Alla Turca or Chopin’s Fantaisie-Impromptu? Please listen to them before voting! Rondo Alla Turca has become a bit played out as an alarm for me at this point but I worry Fantaisie-Impromptu might be too abrupt and intense, likely causing it to be a stressful way to wake up. Thank you!

Are you interested in how gcc shifts thousands of LOC when you slap 'virtual' on a method? Will you be interested in the oceans of c++ your prompt changes? Can you write better assembly than the compiler? Most can't.

@simplex_fx when considering an open source lib, i always look at commit activity and how well it is tested. taking on an os initiative will be an ongoing burden, if you are up to it. having a bucket of components that work nicely together but are optional (eg optional allocator) is nice too

I'm planning to open-source parts of my codebase, so others could also use it for gamedev (and other) purposes. What are the main things you are looking at / considering, when you adopt an open source lib? What are the best solutions, especially regarding to memory management and logging / error handling, type reflection and other core systems? Not sure if I should distribute my lib with it's own highly unorthodox but very fast mem mgr / log system, or I should provide a way for the user to override those. Also, not sure what's the best way to integrate my lib to a random build system. Single-header and cmake are common, but kinda horrible options, so I wanna avoid those.

Is there a software project anywhere close in impact to that of Linux? It silently operates most things in the physical world (servers, Android phones, smart TVs, car chargers, aerospace systems, government systems etc) Oh and git is now the de facto source control across most of tech (git was the Linux community “scratch their own itch” for source control, built for their own needs as open source)

Update: Apparently the Delaware state government, realizing what's at stake, has been working to ensure that Delaware remains a safe place for startups to incorporate, and it's now a valid option again.

I am again writing my "No graphics API" blog post. Wrote the first C/C++ example that creates a shader pipeline, texture, RT, buffer, does a dispatch with sampler, output texture, buffer and root data struct containing all of them. Total 84 lines. Much better than Vulkan :)
