Zohran's relationship w. Tisch & the NYPD is becoming more and more untenable. how're you gonna let the cops collaborate w. ICE in Bushwick, blocks from me and friends, full of Latino immigrants, and in the heart of the Commie Corridor? we gave you, like, 80 percent of our vote!

@zriboua Some of these people say mutually assured destruction with Iran is the most peaceful solution: If we offer a nuclear umbrella over the ME and threaten to kill 90 million Iranians, that's deterrence. Not only am I skeptical they'd follow through, I'd prefer Iranians be liberated

The fundamental problem is that they do not believe America is a superpower worth defending. They see American power itself as the problem. Which is why, under the language of “diplomacy,” “concessions,” and “deals,” they consistently support policies that erode U.S. leverage. It amazes me that they don’t realize it.

@windyneoneocon @CoreyWriting as wealth inequality widens, unless something's done to address people's anxieties, politicians will increasingly use billionaires as a scapegoat. Doesn't matter if it's right or wrong or accurate or false — it's an unavoidable structural issue that's hardly controversial.

A party that looks like Platner and Mamdani would be unelectable nationally. They work well in electorates which are disproportionately white and college educated. Even Platner doesn't win the working class vote despite his image being curated for that demographic.
bryan metzger@metzgov

Graham Platner defeating Susan Collins in November would have all sorts of interesting downstream effects beyond just Senate margins. It would prompt a rethinking among Democrats about the types of candidates they recruit and the types of campaigns they run.

@AF_Insight Republicans need to hammer Dems on their hypocrisy— you can't simultaneously support open borders and the working class. Open borders hurts working class wages. For every Dem who says they support the working class, get them to disavow globalist policy and support strong borders

"All people want is their government to shut the F up and make Americans lives good." Thats fantastic, 50% of the nation think importing infinite foreigners does that and 50% thinks importing infinite foreigners doesnt do that. So what's your solution there?
Marjorie Taylor Greene 🇺🇸@mtgreenee

Practically everyone I talk to is done with toxic divisive politics. They hate both sides because both sides are failures. Yes people still hold their core beliefs but they are fed up with the drama. All people want is their government to shut the F up and make Americans lives good. Thats it. Just that.

@PalmyrPar People under appreciate how much Trump’s closed-border policies already represent a radical break from the past. It’s okay to have higher expectations and want more done on immigration. But don’t blindly support people who would steer us back toward open border policies.

One should take anecdotal evidence with a grain of salt, but I would not be surprised if a substantial segment of Iraq’s youth have drifted away from religion after the ugly sectarian conflicts that gripped the country in the 2000s and 2010s. I also wonder whether the same will happen to the next generation of Syrians.

@mattyglesias If we’re gonna get a Democrat, at least Platner supports a strong border. Anyone who wants to protect unions knows that open borders hurts the wages of the working class.

What is the upshot of the Platner tattoo discourse? Let's say I find his story fishy. I'm supposed to worry that this seemingly left-wing guy supported by all the left-wing people is secretly a Nazi just pretending to be a progressive populist?

@ReubenR80027912 I'm pulling for Vivek, but his tactics confuse me. He went to Catholic School. His teachers growing up were Christian. He knows more about Christian theology than most of his voters. Why not lean into this? Hopefully, there's some conversations not being posted online.

@Cernovich I'm not sure who the voters are in Maine. But if I were in Maine and you told me not to vote for Platner because he said Black people don't tip and women are liars, I'm not listening.

@Cernovich I'd wager the campaign's already backfiring. Never really cared about the guy until the attack ads. Most of the "quotes" they're amplifying I agree with. Maine's going Blue.

Maine is a land of unparalleled beauty. In summer, it exceeds California. Last trip, I saw Haitians smoking weed, Kratom shops, and growing despair. Rather than run on a successful record of helping the state, the focus will be on a stupid tattoo. Not a good sign.
Frank Luntz@FrankLuntz

Republicans have set aside $42 million for attack ads against Graham Platner in Maine’s Senate race: “He’ll no longer be able to live in the state after we thoroughly beat the sh*t out of him.”

@ThomBrady5 Fuck Greg Bovino. He should be arrested and thrown in prison. Coming online bragging about setting up checkpoints in cities and checking every citizen for paperwork. No Fed is above the Law.

@ThomBrady5 Sure, do me a favor and tell the IRS to stop sending me invoices. Right Wing is strict Law and Order, including the Government. Greg Bovino is a lawless POS who turned deportations into a spectacle and threw a wrench into the entire program. Fuck him.

This is an excellent point that a guy like Bovino takes actual risks and stacks measurable wins, which certain people resent. And a lot of fake friends are going to turn on Bovino over time and accuse him of betraying them. We need to reward our warriors.
Sólionath@Anarseldain

I can basically guarantee that, by the end of the year, there will be large accounts disavowing Bovino, lying and saying they never actually liked him, calling him a traitor or comparing him to MTG/Massie. Just keep note of who’s who.
