The fundamental problem is that they do not believe America is a superpower worth defending. They see American power itself as the problem. Which is why, under the language of “diplomacy,” “concessions,” and “deals,” they consistently support policies that erode U.S. leverage. It amazes me that they don’t realize it.

A party that looks like Platner and Mamdani would be unelectable nationally. They work well in electorates which are disproportionately white and college educated. Even Platner doesn't win the working class vote despite his image being curated for that demographic.

Graham Platner defeating Susan Collins in November would have all sorts of interesting downstream effects beyond just Senate margins. It would prompt a rethinking among Democrats about the types of candidates they recruit and the types of campaigns they run.

Practically everyone I talk to is done with toxic divisive politics. They hate both sides because both sides are failures. Yes people still hold their core beliefs but they are fed up with the drama. One should take anecdotal evidence with a grain of salt, but I would not be surprised if a substantial segment of Iraq’s youth have drifted away from religion after the ugly sectarian conflicts that gripped the country in the 2000s and 2010s.
I also wonder whether the same will happen to the next generation of Syrians.

This is an excellent point that a guy like Bovino takes actual risks and stacks measurable wins, which certain people resent. And a lot of fake friends are going to turn on Bovino over time and accuse him of betraying them. We need to reward our warriors.
