Lots of new followers after Nik's podcast, so allow me to re-introduce myself. I'm your friendly neighborhood orthodontist working to build an amazing group of dental practices. DSOs (dental service organizations) get a bad rap sometimes because some PE backed groups have sacrificed patient care for profits. I'm a partner in a small 21 practice DSO that is entirely doctor owned and our mission to build a great company without sacrificing patient care. I do it all for my four kids and awesome wife, I spent 7 years in the Army, die hard Georgia Bulldogs fan, Austin native and I love Jesus. I post about the business side of dentistry and try to share insights I'm gaining as I build with my awesome partners. I'm currently in the lease negotiation process for a retail space in the North Austin suburbs and we're recruiting a partner for this location. So if you know anyone who wants to become a practice owner, I'd love to get their name! Give me a follow and drop a comment about the content you'd like to see more of!

What's the worst way you've seen someone quit a job? One of my favorites: A guy wrote a program that texted his boss every second until he got paid... with a 200MB picture attached.

@ryanrivchun Many practice management softwares have some sort of a feature that attempts to fill last minute vacancies. Anyone out there have one they love that actually works? We have online scheduling with FlexSchedule. We currently mostly use it for new patients.

@theDSOguy Make it easy for patients to schedule a cleaning when there is a last minute cancellation. Also consider a scheduling portal.

Dental office buildout part 4 Walls are mostly sheet rocked and the concrete trenches have been refilled. They’re going to start painting next week. In the background all the business stuff like payroll, bank accounts, GBP, website and PMS has been setup and is ready for opening day.

Dental office buildout part 3 Electrical and plumbing nearly completed. These interior buildouts can be completed in 3 months if you use a good GC.

@theDSOguy As some people other than you and EEs to try it, some reg people. They will say things or ask questions you wont. Which will help you find edge cases in your testing.

Best use of Claude this week: the daily summary. I connected Claude to my email, calendar, Slack, SMS and WhatsApp. Now every morning it sends me a summary of what happened on all those channels and surfaces any urgent tasks I need to do then lays out my schedule. Gamechanger

Just last week we saw a house on the market for the first time in 5 years in Austin that we were like "yeah, it might be worth that" Prior to this it was always "they want HOW MUCH for that !!??" Nature is healing

With each passing day, the mortgage rate lock-in effect fades. Nearly 22% of mortgage holders now have a rate above 6%. Which is more than the share with a rate below 3%. Ultra-low-rate owners are slowly getting replaced with 6%+ owners. Meaning downward pressure on prices is coming.

@nanshisweets A less well known American pie is mincemeat pie. It’s a bit of an acquired taste. As with most pies, it’s best with lots of whipped cream

@kengakusha1 My sister married a Canadian. We talk a little smack back and forth but it’s all friendly. Cost of living seems insane up there

Not gonna lie, I love all the awesome Japanese tweets on my timeline today. My sister became great friends with some international students from Japan and has worked diligently to become nearly fluent in Japanese. She’s traveled there a few times. Nearly 6 foot tall blonde girl speaking Japanese in full sentences…quite the anomaly. Who should I follow?

This is getting out of control! I'm a dentist and I just programmed a website with a customizable organization chart...in 30 minutes. Here's what I did 👇 First I dictate into Wisprflow for about 5-10 minutes describing what I wanted to build and then listing each employee in my organization, what they do and who they report to. I loaded that into Claude Opus and asked it to create a prompt for Manus. Loaded the prompt from Claude into Manus and it just started coding a website. What is this black magic?! I make teeth straight for a living! 5-10 minutes later it spits out a website with my current structure, my goal structure for next year once new clinics are open, and recommendations for how to improve my structure. Any ideas for what I should add to this?
