🥳🥳I am super happy to share that I received the #NSF #CAREER award!! nsf.gov/awardsearch/sh…)! “Transformative understanding of rainfall-triggered landslides with vegetation effects from a climate change perspective” I hope we can start producing great research very soon!

@Hokie20 @RickyLaBlue Complicated, and probably a nono because it could confuse refs, but it'd be even cooler (imo) if one side was the # of the starter at that position that year. 7 for QB, 17 for K, etc. And then the VT on the other.
Also I think a copper-maroon run would be pretty sick to see too
English

@RickyLaBlue It'd be pretty cool to do some sort of silver element on the helmet or jersey when it comes to a 25th anniversary celebration. What was 25 years ago? 😏

For Friday entertainment, I asked ChatGPT to design the perfect Virginia Tech football helmet.
Took those details and applied them to the template. Here are the results! #Hokies

@treadmillhorse @UVAFootball I want this type of team in the ACC, that is a fantastic way to report the score I love it. Respect.

This is more than @UVAFootball did

and that’s all for the 2023 season

@DaveScarangella Royal bummer, but the health reigns supreme, stay healthy and well! Hope it's still a rocking Wednesday.
English

Well, it's now up to a 90 percent chance for rain all day Wednesday, and given my age and history of problems with pneumonia and respiratory issues, I'm not going to be able to go to the Military Bowl. When I asked my doctor last week how bad it could be for me if I sat out in the rain all day, she said "bad enough for me to think you're an idiot for even asking."
So I'm going to have to watch from home and will need everyone going to post a lot of pictures. Needless to say, I was hoping for a Christmas Miracle for the weather to go the other way....

Today in 2015: @HokiesFB Coach Frank Beamer is carried off the field after his final game at Lane Stadium. #HokieHistory #Hokies

English

@DaveScarangella As far as I know, it's the result of either following someone or engagement with their outputs...I used to get a few here and there, but haven't lately. My guess is it's that I stopped hitting anything on his tweets. May have also filled in the "I don't like this" on promo tweets

@CoachPryVT Gonna be a beautiful day for a game, I can feel it. Go rock that stadium!
English

Kinda thinking about changing up the #HokieHistory tweets when it comes to timing. There's a day coming up where there are FOURTEEN posts for a single day.
Do you like them all populating at 10am or should I spread them throughout the day? #Hokies

@ESPNBlacksburg @HokiesFB Yes (and I still like whiteout) but here's why:
1. Exit light
2. Enter night
3. Our black uniforms have looked *sick* in the past (thinking of the ones with the digital/cyberprint numbers).
4. Hey the Lunchpail is black too, just want to point out that we could HINT HINT.

OPINION: Chris Marve & Virginia Tech's defense has rightly received some criticism, but they've also been better than you think despite the clear issues. Check out more from @TimThomasTLP on why he feels the #Hokies defense also deserves some credit here:

@HokieHangover A lighthearted question I think we all should hear the answer to, because while I know not everyone likes the white out effect...it's still neat.
Favorite white-out T-Shirts we've had?

I know I don't actually have many (if any) current geotechs following me who are still *at* VT...but it bears retweeting. These lectures are often the highlight of the semester, if not the year. Schnabel always finds someone who who is interesting and exciting!
Virginia Tech Civil and Environmental Engineering@VirginiaTechCEE
Mark your calendar for October 24 for the 18th Annual Schnabel Engineering Lecture presented by David Paul on the history of dam and levee safety in the US. Lecture will be at 4:30 pm in 310 Kelly Hall.
