Gout Gout is a great Australian athlete who is unfortunately being racially vilified for being ethnically African and a successful representation of modern Australia. The attacks on him are completely unwarranted.

My parents renounced their homeland citizenship. They became Australian - they are Australian just like me. How can someone be more….

Just cause their foreparents were born here makes them no more Australian than me. At the end of the day our family trees predate Australia. The timelines matter not.

@LewiHinds @therealrukshan In Australia I don’t believe it matters as most only have a few generations of being Australian. I don’t consider myself any different to a 4th or 5th gen Australian except of my different linear heritage to them (which they still have as most are from migrant families)

@therealrukshan If I was born in India from white parents does that make me Indian?. It will make me as Indian as the current years lived, but it would not make me as Indian as others parents or their grandparents. It also depends if I grew up in society the same way other Indians did.
