I’m officially convinced. It was a hoax. The Trump Administration recruited a leftist Kamala Harris voting Trump hater to participate in a staged assassination that would include the shooter getting shot at and then locked in federal prison for the rest of his life. The Kamala Harris voter agreed to this plan, that works against his political and personal interests, because he’s just like a really generous guy. Meanwhile the Trump Administration, despite dastardly planning multiple assassination hoaxes, decided to keep their patsy alive and a permanent liability to them, rather than just killing him like they could have easily done. They did this because they also are really strangely generous in a very odd and specific way. So in summary we have a plot where all parties involved are working against their own interests with no real discernible benefit to any of them. There is no evidence of this plan and it doesn’t even make any intuitive sense and the motives for everyone are unclear if not insane, but still I believe it because I’m a very smart person.

Don’t forget that this is his first attendance to a correspondents dinner as president. Missed the other 5…. A dinner where you’re mocked in the best of times and he is at his lowest ratings ever. Every right wing commentator is now talking about a ballroom construction. The Secret Service failed to properly secure a building during a time of war? With a president with two previous assassination attempts. There are so many improbabilities that we are meant to believe.

Am I understanding this correctly? The President, the Vice-President, the Speaker of the House AND the Secretary of State were all at the White House Correspondent's Dinner together and security was so laxed that a guy ran through security with a long gun? I call bullshit.

Let me be clear about something. I have disagreed with Marjorie Taylor Greene on roughly 97% of everything she has ever said. The woman spent years being one of Trump’s most enthusiastic attack dogs, cheerfully helping tear down anyone who crossed the man. And yet. She received over 700 official death threats. A pipe bomb threat on her home. A pipe bomb threat on her family business. And then direct death threats against her youngest child, her son. The death threats quoted Trump’s own words. He had been calling her a traitor. So the people sending threats to her son used exactly that language. She did what any parent would do. She reached out. Texted the President directly. Told him what was happening. JD Vance said he would look into it. Trump said something “extremely unkind.” Trump later told reporters he doesn’t think “anybody cares” about her. There is no political lens through which that response is acceptable. None. A child’s life is being threatened because of words you chose. The bare minimum of a decent human being is to say “I’m sorry, that’s awful.” Instead, he blamed her. Greene told Piers Morgan: “Some of my biggest political enemies would never say that to me. Democrats I disagreed with in Congress would never have said that to me.” That tells you everything. When your political opponents treat you with more basic human decency than your own president, something has gone badly wrong. Marjorie Taylor Greene spent years feeding the beast.
