@AdrianBeney @lara_wildenberg I think that column is showing the rural population of that ethnic group, as a proportion of the total population *of that ethnic group*. So it's saying people whose ethnicity is white gypsy or Irish traveller are more likely to live rurally than other ethnic groups.

@lara_wildenberg your article on ethnic minorities in rural Britain contains a table which appears to show that nationally more people identify as “white, gypsy or Irish traveller” than “white, English, welsh, Scottish, NI or British”. Surely that can’t be right?

The nearest I can find is arrest statistics, which show that, as of 2023, around 2/3rds of arrests were of white British people.
Are you mixing it up with number of arrests per 1000 people?

So that means 86 - 89% is committed by ethnic minorities, look on the government ethnic crime figures
The English / UK’s own population are about 16/17th on the list near the bottom

@thomasforth Yes - universities deliberately shut down at Northampton, Stamford, Durham (twice).
So endowment flowed from North to South - Durham alone founded three Oxford colleges.
Wealth they still have now - a single college at Cambridge is richer than every university north of it.

It's always only ever one part of things, but I do think this map is one part of why North England's big cities are so comparatively poor within Europe. And we should know that this was by deliberate choice of the English Parliament under pressure from Oxford and Cambridge.
