La explosión que costó 10 muertes, la G.C. adjudicó a ETA y era obra de petardos no controlados por un guardia civil. El 19 de agosto de 1989 estallaba un vehículo en el parking del Pryca de San Juan (Alicante), dejando un balance final de 10 muertos (incluidos conductor y uno de sus acompañantes… y dos niñas de 6 y 2 años) y casi 30 heridos. Este asunto destapó varias de las miserias del Estado en el que estamos; 1- La Guardia Civil atribuyó de inmediato el tema a los de siempre, ETA, alegando que se habían recibido llamadas anunciando la colocación de una bomba en la zona. Podría tener un pase si no fuese porque llegaron a asegurar, para dar más empaque a dicha teoría, que el coche tenía las placas de matrícula cambiadas y que el explosivo había sido de entre 10 y 15 kilos de amonal… ¡todo mentira!. 2- La explosión se debió al material pirotécnico transportado para una boda por el hijo del comisionista de la empresa «Pirotecnia La Levantina», que había sido teóricamente clausurada a causa de un accidente apenas 15 días antes sin que nadie verificase que había cesado realmente su actividad. 3- Muerto su hijo en el accidente y habiéndose suicidado 3 días después el responsable del traslado de los cohetes, quienes fueron enjuiciados fueron el apoderado de la empresa, su hijo y gerente de la misma y Saturnino Romero Romero, un sargento de la Guardia Civil encargado del control del material pirotécnico, que no sólo reconoció que lo supervisaba «a ojo», sino que como agente de la ley siguió permitiendo el uso y traslado de la petardada de una empresa supuestamente cerrada… ¡ y en un turismo! 4- Para cuando se celebró el juicio, casi 5 años después, la Guardia Civil había perdido las pruebas recogidas en el lugar del suceso. 5- Los tres acusados fueron absueltos y nadie, ni siquiera el Estado, pagó indemnización alguna a las víctimas. Así se las gasta el Estado cuando no le interesan los muertos…
