As has been noted but should be repeated, Mike Trout has been hit by a pitch three times by Mariners pitchers, which includes the two times this past weekend, since 2020. That's 197 plate appearances. Multiple teams have hit him the same or more times over that span, including non-divisional opponents. The argument ends there. The Mariners have successfully pitched Trout to his weakness far more frequently than not. Mistakes happen. It's baseball. Ask Ty France. There's no middle ground to be found here. Folks like Ty Buttrey, who continue to perpetuate this, are objectively wrong. The guy clearly isn't the sharpest tool in the shed; he thinks NFTs are still cool in 2026 (they never were). "You didn't play the game, I did" is a crutch for being a hypocrite and not using common-sense. Enough.
