@RoshanaMN Every single patient coming to see me, saying how they just can’t get to see their GP. One patient yesterday phoned their practice 125 times to be seen for their elbow problem. Super depressing. Wish I knew how I could make a difference!

Is anyone just so utterly depressed at the state of medicine? Like a deep hopelessness? Sigh…

@telswood @RCRadiologists @halliday_kath That’s the third example of this I’ve seen in the last week. Serious suggestion: those of us who are consultants who have been to medical school should come up with a new title to distinguish ourselves with a new word to replace ‘consultant’; then the confusion would be removed!

@trentconsultant Where has this new job title come? How are patients meant to have any understanding who who is looking after them these days, especially now there are no longer names consultants over the bed and we all have tiny name badges which I struggle to read even close up

Sent to me, the answer to uncompetitive pay is not to recruit ‘non medical consultants’, it’s to pay fairly and competitively. If we allow this these people will eat our lunch (and breakfast and dinner). Join the BMA take action to defend pay.

@workshop_77 You should tag Northants police in - I’d be interested to hear their comments in safety. Wonder too if their team even do this or is it sub contracted out?

A question. How unsafe is this? The undercover speedvan in Northants, stopped in this position, with no warnings/markings, etc.

@mosseri Sorry whilst I understand the rationale for the layout changes, I do NOT like the fact that text is harder to see, the Save to Collection more long winded and I’m seeing way more accounts I don’t follow (& I’m missing out on posts I wanted to have seen) & I can’t turn dark off

Said goodbye to my old desk today. bought in 1987 and used for all my medical school, surgery and orthopaedic exams revision. Sadly it was in poor shape with broken drawers. Too difficult to get down 3 flights of stairs so needed an orthopaedic solution. No more cuts @TheNHS

@FilthyMcNasty_ He had a base of thumb joint replacement performed by me under awake block (the patient observed much of the operation). It’s an operation much like a mini hip replacement. It appears that it’s not yet performed in USA but is common now in the UK & Europe upperlimb.co.uk/basal-thumb-jo…

@upper_limb Hello Dr Jepson. I watched your video of your patient 2 weeks post op playing guitar.Which type of surgery did he get? I see he curled his thumb over the neck at the first frett! Very important to me. Also, wondering about pinch strength. Cheers! Evan

@Gnomelover1970 Just as important question @Gnomelover1970 - why do some people get it and others not! That would have my question at teaching! The surgery is, in some ways, easier to explain!

Turns out #MyStory into research started as a participant at aged 2 & now I'm a researcher 😏 Been searching medical archives recently to get a better understanding of the minor left hand impairment - this study 👇 was about little me & published in Child Neurology 😳😅 (1/7)

@enviromentalist Sadly it would be exactly this - a plastic cover for the X-ray, a plastic hand to hold the fingers straight, and sometimes a single use tourniquet & Esmark bandage. Then at some hospitals all the instruments are also disposed of too! It makes me very 😢

Thank you for the recommending me @CheyneWalkClub @SollusHealth. If you would like some help @RevRichardColes I’d be very pleased to help. From your tweet I already have an idea as to what the problem is. Probably best to DM or speak on the phone

@CheyneWalkClub @MarkCoster @RevRichardColes @upper_limb Thank you for the mention @CheyneWalkClub and @MarkCoster It's great to be mentioned in the same sentence as @upper_limb and I would probably try him first tbh 🤔😳
