People forget that Vice President Kamala Harris is from the Bay Area She was DA, AG and Senator watching what Silicon Valley was up to She was an early voice warning about placing guardrails on the nascent technologies like AI In 2019 she warned us
Kamala Harris@KamalaHarris

Long before today’s ruling, we knew social media was harming our young people. Teens, parents, advocates, and even casual observers begged tech and elected leaders to take action. While we applaud this decision, we have much more work to do to protect young people online and support their mental health and wellness.

@GunnelsWarren The hard truth: Your daughter will not attend school at all. Schools will be obsolete. The point of education will become moot except for the social experience. Human knowledge apart from a general grasp on how the world works will no longer be required for succes in life.

I firmly believe that the biggest issue with discipline is cowardly superintendents. If the sup is courageous enough to create the mandate for control then the principals get scrutinized as to their abilities to enforce it. We'll find new ones if necessary. SOME kids might leave. Usually the ones you want gone. Fine riddance in my opinion. All the staff and the vast majority of kids will appreciate the control and safety.

The reason schools don’t enforce real consequences? Students would leave. And when students leave, funding follows. We have kids who refuse to give up their phones… and we hand them right back at the end of the day. 1st offense or 50th, it doesn’t matter. If it were actually taken for a month, many would walk out. So instead of changing behavior, we lower expectations.
Marc Porter Magee 🎓@marcportermagee

Public schools: “But how will we enforce this cell phone ban?!” Private schools: “We saw you using your phone in hallway. We will give you your phone back next month.”

@catarinaaba @travisakers I personally believe middle and high school students should have the right to have their phone on them. But they should have to use the pocket system or to keep it out of sight during class. Too many bad things happen when schools don’t enforce no personal devices during class.

Parents, Stop texting your kids during class while they’re at school. If it’s that important you can call the main office. But now you’re taking away from my classroom time and the time of 35 other students because you can’t follow the rules and law yourself. So knock it off. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Respectfully Mr. Akers

@catarinaaba @travisakers And if God forbid there is an actual shooter, we are literally instructed by admin to use our cell phones to call 911 because it’s the fastest. Some districts actually disable the ability to call 911 on a classroom phone so kids can’t prank call it.

@catarinaaba @travisakers The office can ignore intercom buttons. Some schools’ intercom buttons don’t work, and not all rooms have phones. And you’re HIGH if you think all classrooms have radios. If you have one per grade level, your school is well off.

@EvaGeorge919 @travisakers Admin will literally fire us if kids are not paying attention in our class. That is part of teacher evaluation everywhere in the United States. So go tell it to Linda McMahon, the esteemed head of the Department of Education in all her infinite wisdom w/ zero teaching experience.

Yes, you can text your kid anytime you please, but if they are using their phone in my class, they’re not going to see your message because the phone is being confiscated and you can pick it up in the office after school, because that’s where it’s going when your child violates the law in Florida. Thank you, @GovRonDeSantis, teachers are grateful for this support in the classroom, especially with entitled and verbally abusive parents.
Murphy 🌵@shelobcat

I will text my kids anytime I please. If you think I trust that drama filled, parent hating government school employee who answers the phone to give my child a message you have lost your damn mind. Sucks to have 35 kids in a class. I’m sure a text to my kid is the reason they do not listen to you.

I’d like to see the robot manage 24 kids, write a referral, write an accident report, help 3 kids with a long division problem, deal w/ the 3 kids who insist they all need the bathroom NOW, & make sure that someone doesn’t slip in the water that just got dumped. Simultaneously.

@SketchesbyBoze An Ai powered robot will likely do a better job at teaching random kids how to read since it cam adopt a learning structure according how that kid learns. Clearly human teachers are doing a shit job.

They’re trying to eliminate human teachers at a time when less than a third of students can read on a basic level. Students don’t need fancy tech, which has already made learning nearly impossible. We’re spending billions to produce a nation of illiterates.

Victims need our voices. The systems are fcked up and sinister. This is the same systemic overlay that uses the energy of children and innocents to gain power and control for the worst “people” on the planet. Victims have been talking about it for decades but I get the impression you’re probably a pedosadist defender, or at best a denier. I’m not trying to convince a YOU. You are demonstrating yourself to be part of a very active problem.
