@ADHalliwell Might be the right strategy in the long term. So many vineyards over-cultivated, soil structure destroyed, no water infiltration, no water retention (low organic material) - this is farming soils. Over a few years might reach much better balance

This #vineyard was adjacent to some I was looking at. The chap I was with reckoned it was a disaster, as the grass was strangling the vines, the yields were certainly way down, the vines shorter and more yellow. And yet no doubt this grower thinks they have the right strategy.

Came home today from Europe. This was the first thing I saw at Cape Town International. I was so ashamed. Is this really what we want the first impression to be for tourists coming into our wonderful winelands??

@elonmusk Since SpaceX has so many satellites in orbit, how about getting a high resolution multi spectral camera up there so we can use it in agriculture for high resolution NDVI's on an open platform, much like the Sentinel 2 data, but better. How about that?

@Christina_SvR I know the feeling. Even my clients take my photos, pass them on to every and anyone, and I see these photos credited to them in magazines and articles! Im always like WTF.

More & more online retailers are using my photography (without my permission) to sell their wines. At first, I took it as a compliment & would be really nice about it. Now it just pisses me off & I really feel for professional photographers. How do people think it's acceptable?

@DaveMarchCWM Winemakers pick earlier. Perception of consumer drive? The reality is that most vineyards aren't farmed for lower sugars and you can pick it up in most of these wines. Some get it right though

@colyntruter That might be true, as Red Muscadel is a mutation of White. Through years of Massal selection we have stable Red Muscadel. But then again, we have Semillon Gris mutations in Semillon vineyards and aren't allowed to mention both on the label, same with Grenache and Pinot...

@visualviti Really? I am pretty sure the 1908 vineyard at Rietvallei is MdF but Red mutated over the years to a red skin? But then i am not a viticulturist 😁

I wonder how this wine got through the board.. Labeled as both Muscat de Frontignan (White Muscadel) and Red Muscadel (totally different varieties in SA, both having its own clones and material), and then as "Single Vineyard"... makes one wonder
