If you’re American, show me a steak you usually eat. If it’s huge, I’ll believe you’re really American🥰🇺🇸

I have several theories about Aonishiki’s dramatic downturn: - he let the nerves get to him (unlikely) - he was injured during training (he left early during a particular training camp) - he was told he wouldn’t be made yokuzuna this basho no matter how well he played. And he decided it wasn’t worth the effort.

@TheOnlyDSC The plane was cleared to land. The bus had been told to wait by air traffic control and for some reason decided to ignore that.

@10Snkrz @maxyourtest Yes, but he was already very sick and the doctor's assessment was he had too much blood. "Doctor, this morbidly obese man just had a stroke." "Give him a hamburger, he looks hungry."

Physically impossible. CPU will physically have to deal with one of the requests before the others, long before your code can decide. Same with the queue. Same with a database lock. Same with an update flag. Same with shards. One request will win the race before your code runs. A queue is the answer because it is a lot cheaper than a database call. Plus by the time you deal with the second request, you can empty the queue without further database access since you’ll know there are no other tickets available. Assuming all requests in the queue are for that same event. “But what about sharded databases?” If you’re sharing the ticketing data for a single location, you got a whole other set of problems. No venue in the world has more than 100,000 seats. You may have millions, even billions of requests for those tickets, but there aren’t going to be billions or even millions of tickets for any event where humans physically congregate. So the issue is dealing with the requests not the asset.

Interviewer: There is exactly ONE concert ticket left. 10,000 fans click 'Buy' at the exact same millisecond. How do you guarantee only one person gets it without crashing the database?
