This is really stupid, and it’s not getting enough attention. The Trump administration is pulling a working $368 million ocean monitoring system out of the water, equipment taxpayers already bought, built, and sank into the deep ocean. And they are doing it right when the oceans are behaving in ways that alarm the scientists who study them. Record-breaking temperatures. A system of Atlantic currents that may be lurching toward collapse. The response? Yank out the instruments and walk away. That is not budgeting. That is smashing the gauges while the engine is on fire and calling it efficiency. For what? The Trump administration dressed it up as a “nimbler approach” and “smart lifecycle management,” which is fancy nonsense for “we shut it off and hoped nobody would ask why.” There is no return-on-investment analysis. They cannot show taxpayers save a dime, because the gear is already paid for and the science it produces protects real money and real lives. The kicker: the same people killing the monitors want to mine the deep sea for minerals. So they are destroying the only tools that could measure what that mining does. That is not an accident. That is the point. You cannot see the damage if you break the instruments first. cnn.com/2026/06/03/cli…

I went to Delaney Hall to follow up on conversations I had this morning with family members of detainees. ICE and GEO Group did not let me speak with detainees. Why do they insist on hiding the truth even after getting almost $1 billion of tax dollars?

It seems the Delaney Hall hunger/labor strikers are getting some response to their demand to release the old, the young and the vulnerable. Fantastic reporting on a signature case of detention cruelty at Delaney by Daysi Calavia-Robertson nj.com/opinion/2026/0…

Because of your voice on Delaney Hall, the Trump admin just released 18 yr old high school senior whose story I told. They released the pregnant women held inside. These releases show ICE isn’t targeting the violent criminals. ICE is feeling the pressure. Keep raising your voice.

@mattyglesias 18 states plus DC have minimum wages above $15.00/hr. Precedents for a living wage keep building.

It's kind of crazy that we've gone from "raise the minimum wage to $12" to "raise the minimum wage to $15" to "raise the minimum wage to $20" without actually raising the minimum wage at all.
Jeff Stein@jstein_star

New - the 2028 Dem policy sweepstakes are starting early than ever, with Sen. Ruben Gallego today backing sectoral bargaining along with $20/hr min wage Asked about Sanders’ AI sovereign wealth plan, Gallego tells me: “I would not be against it” notus.org/policy/ruben-g…

When you see the videos of chaos at Delaney Hall, remember that in a few days Congressional Republicans will try to pass a budget bill that would give tens of billions $ more to ICE with zero accountability/reforms. Let’s make our voices heard to stop this bill.
Jim Acosta@Acosta

Now there is video of Senator @AndyKimNJ being pepper-sprayed by DHS outside Delaney Hall detention facility on Monday. You can hear onlookers say, “they tear-gassed Andy Kim.”

"Convenience store," LOL. It's a commissary, as in any prison, that extorts a large surcharge from loved ones who fund it.

.@SecMullinDHS on the NJ ICE facility: "Not only are we providing them a safe place to stay, and food, and a place to sleep, but we’re also giving them a convenience store to buy products out of. So we're going above and beyond. The fact is this is political theater."

Our updated @georgetownccf tracker finds that 16 months into President Trump’s 2nd term, Medicaid is covering 2 million fewer children. This is very bad news b/c the child uninsured rate is likely going up as a result. And this is before HR 1 Medicaid cuts kick in.
