An average northerner who slowly built a 7 figure business in ecom. Trying to share some lessons I've learnt along the way.

Hargreaves Lansdown being down and unable to operate on a Friday morning during market hours is an absolute disgrace.
The so called “scheduled maintenance” should surely take place on a weekend when markets are closed.
Unless there’s something you’re not telling us… @HLInvest

@DanBilzerian @RepFine Criticism of both is rational. Your one sided-ness is weird and just a culty as the other side.
English

@RepFine Antisemitism is a lie.
Criticism of jews is rational.

@EYakoby Like all the times Israel used white phosphorus on Lebanon and Gaza

Feel like I've outgrown my first home, want something bigger and wage increases have meant lendability is up.
The stamp duty on an upgrade is 12 fucking grand, just to move house, why am I paying 12k to move fucking house? it isn't an additional property. I'm basically stuck in the house I have, when it would be better served as someone elses first home as it was mine.
English

You earn £100k? Govt. take £45k
You buy a house? Govt. add 15% stamp duty & £5k/yr council tax
You buy a car? Govt. add 20% VAT & car tax & road tax & fuel tax
You pass your wealth to your kids? Govt. tax 40% of it
You want a pension; it’s taxed
You want assets; they’re taxed
You want savings; they’re taxed
Now can you see why all the millionaires are leaving the U.K.?

@DaveMcLaughli20 @jhorsewhisperer Clever 😂😂 cheers, will do, will get a nice courtesy no doubt so get to try something else out eh 😉
English

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer Not to smart Ian eh? BYD = Build Your Dream 🤣🤣 enjoy the Chinese tat till it breaks down
English

Chinese cars are going to take over.
The girlfriend wanted a new car.
Range Rover Evoque
4 years PCP deal
Total cost: £30,480 @ 3.9% APR
Jaecoo 7
Total cost: £17,520 @ 0% APR
Financing the Jaecoo 7 is a no-brainer at 0%. It might not be a "Range Rover" but neither is the Evoque in my opinion it's crap. A real Range Rover is the full-sized Range Rover or the Sport.
Who is going to justify paying almost double for nearly the same car? Jaecoo 7 tech is better and most people who drive these cars don't give a crap about handling etc. An Evoque is hardly a driver's car anyway.
I think we'll see some big changes over the next few years in the car market. People are becoming less brand snobs. As long as it looks good, has a warranty, and is affordable, most are happy.

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer A Seal is your dream 😳🤣🤣 - wouldn’t be seen dead in one. Could be worse I guess could be a Dolphin 🐬 🤷♂️🤣
English

@AndrewxMontague @jhorsewhisperer Fair assessment, I will no doubt look at BMW again in 3 years when I'm looking for another lease and i'll weigh up the cost again.
Was too hard to turn down the BYD this time round with the deal I got.
English

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer I have direct experience of both. BMW probably makes the best quality interiors of any mainstream brand & are mechanically more durable than most. I wasn’t impressed by the dynamics of the BYD I drove but they change & improve the whole time
As you say, there’s a big price gulf!
English

@MISHM1310 @jhorsewhisperer Apologies, the X4 Comp is an unreal bit of kit!
English

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer yea i know ,im a woman by the way 😂 we love pur cars too ☺️
English

@MISHM1310 @jhorsewhisperer Of course mate not slagging it off, very nice car and it’s all subjective.
Was just pointing out the price difference as a response to the original post being about EV undercutting the market.
English

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer I like my new bmw ,if you can afford it then get what you like
English

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer Good to know, just ignore the massive human rights violations of the CCP while supporting the world’s most polluting country.
At least you saved a few quid and have helped destroy the European car industry, in turn causing us all to be poorer 👍
English

@ThothYnwa @jhorsewhisperer I must have watched 10+ reviews of both because I was torn, reviews had them neck and neck (even in terms of build quality) except one is £150 a month more expensive.
English

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer I have the i4 M60, I tested the BYD, Tesla etc and the BMW is miles ahead in terms of build quality and comfort, it was worth the extra money
English

@GeekaWhat @jhorsewhisperer Heard this a lot, everyone says the i4 is nice, but half of them say you can get the same for cheaper and the other half love it just because it’s a bmw.
English

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer Owned an i4 for 18 months. Nice car but not worth all the money I payed for it. Traded it out for a lease on a much cheaper Model Y and prefer it…
English

I’m yet to see a review online that has compared both cars to say the BMW is clearly ahead in build quality. You going off personal experience?
Don’t doubt it could very well be a bit better, just not enough to justify the heft jump in price for me personally but i’m fortunate enough for both cars to be a step up from my cupra formentor.
English

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer If your only priority is 0-60 then fine, but when the novelty of that wears off I think you’ll find the build and material quality, dynamics and drivability of the BMW would be another class.
But if you’re happy with the BYD that’s all that matters!
English

@Christi09787198 @jhorsewhisperer 1. They both depreciate like fuck.
2. It's leased.
English

@AyeMibbes @jhorsewhisperer Quite poor is that, I didn't really look into MG as an option but someone else commented here about the same thing in a BYD, i'll be sure to inspect the panels upon delivery.
English

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer Just the other day I was sitting waiting in a car park.
On looking around I saw an MG. Taking a closer look I was not impressed with the panelling.
Inconsistent gap from top of bonnet down to the headlight. The right wing wasn't right either.
Totally lost interest after that.
English

@MikeB2023 @jhorsewhisperer I'll give my money to whichever I believe provides me the most value and I'll sleep fine at night doing so.
English

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer With the BYD you get to fund Blackrock, Vanguard and the CCP, who own the company.
Or you can give your money to a European company.
English

@twd69 @jhorsewhisperer Hopefully it was a one-off, got mine coming next week 😂
English

@yungsharpy @jhorsewhisperer My colleague got a BYD Seal delivered earlier this year as his company car, none of the body panels lined up 😬. It’s really fast though.
