Today (6.12), Ambassador Hwang delivered a joint statement at a media stakeout on behalf of 57 UN member states and the European Union, including the United States and Japan, on the human rights situation in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Ambassador Hwang stated that the DPRK’s dire human rights and humanitarian situation is closely linked to its weapons development, like two sides of the same coin, and called on all UN member states to join in taking action to bring concrete change that improves the welfare of the people in the DPRK and contributes to a more peaceful and secure world.
