You're now becoming one of the few people (seriously, less than 10) who know how I joined the gaming space and honestly it's kind of crazy how it all started
Picture 17 year old me flying to another country to meet some 30 year old guy I only knew from our Metin2 guild. Yeah, I know how that sounds now, but stick with me here
Somehow, I not only survived that potentially questionable decision but actually managed to convince this guy to quit his stable corporate job to build games with me
We had absolutely nothing going for us
No money, no experience, just a crazy dream and probably too much confidence
We started with a Minecraft modded server (you gotta start somewhere) Then we took a shot at a mod for a mobile game and got lucky
That early success gave us the push to keep going...
...Until we hit a massive roadblock.
Google and Facebook banned our marketing accounts. But you know what? That turned out to be a blessing in disguise
We discovered this new app called TikTok about 6-7 years ago, when nobody in gaming was taking it seriously
We jumped on it, partnered with our YouTuber and streamer friends, and basically figured out how to make UGC work for games
The results blew our minds, our games hit over 1 billion views on TikTok and 200 million on YouTube
We ended up becoming one of the top six biggest studios in our genre and get this: we did it without spending a single dollar on marketing
Here's what gets me excited now: think about League of Legends, CS:GO, and PUBG. They all started as mods like my titles and then became massive successes, but none of the early supporters who helped build those communities got to share in that success and
that feels wrong to me
That's why I'm building Crown Chaser differently. I want to do right by our early supporters people like you who believe that we deserve better. I want to build something where gamers actually gets to be part of the journey and not just experience a game
