Lots of people underestimate the power of just building random stuff to get ideas. While working on one of my products I came up with ideas for 2 more that are completely unrelated. lol

just re-subscribed to @screenstudio and I genuinely wish I didn't have to have lifetime licenses for multiple alternatives tested them all, but none is as polished yet screen studio is overpriced and ships way too slowly for 2026 but it's STILL the best screen recorder out there gave them one more year by then the competition will have beaten it, no doubt remember: time is more valuable than money if a tool saves you hours every week, just pay for it and move on

It’s going good man! I thought I could ship faster than I realized back then so I started showing it off way too early. I took a couple months perfecting literally all of the motion to make it something really amazing. As it stands right now it’s pretty much done I have the dmg but have been making sure everything else is all good. The plan right now is apply for Apple dev program I think then drop it when we pass 100 on the waitlist(I think I can do it🤞)

@qasimbizs @aliszu I totally agree dude. Thats why I set out to make my own version with screen01.app. I wont have all the features you requested on launch but I can say confidently the quality is on par and it will be totally free. hoping to change the game soon

Screen studio is great, I use it very often tbh, the issue is that it lacks a lot of features. - exporting other media into the project - voice over capabilities with face cam - transitions - seamlessly switch between phone and laptop recording. It’s a great product that be can brilliant in time. I’ve yet to another recording software match how smooth their animations though so idk if I’d entertain switching

it’s crazy how indies went from loving screen studio to looking for alternatives

Unpopular opinion: Your startup's "culture" doesn't matter if your product sucks. Free snacks won't save you from a revenue of $0. Build something people actually want first. Worry about ping pong tables later.
