“We have a severe shortage in the cybersecurity workforce, especially in the government sector,” explained An-I Andy Wang (bottom right), Mainline Information Systems Endowed Professor in @FSUComputerSci. “We need these cyber warriors to defend our national cyber infrastructure.” Since its adoption at @FloridaState in 2003, the CyberCorps Scholarship for Service grant program has been renewed many times and supported 119 graduate and undergraduate students with a 92 percent placement rate in federal government agencies. 🧑‍💻 To learn more about the SFS grant program, visit: fla.st/VGVPYX66. #SpectrumFSUArtsSciences @NSF

The 2026 Math in Industry Symposium starts TOMORROW!

Save the date! 🗓️ Join us Feb. 27-28 for the second annual Math in Industry Symposium, where mathematicians from varied industries will engage in discussions on the intersection of their mathematical expertise and professional endeavors. The two-day symposium will feature four talks from industry experts and accomplished @FSUMathematics alumni. A jobs panel at the end of the symposium will provide networking opportunities for graduate students. All talks will be in the Love Building, Room 101. The Math in Industry Symposium is almost here! In addition to four talks and a job panel, the symposium will feature a mini-course by Petter Kolm (@nyuniversity), titled "Modern Portfolio Construction: Foundations, Practical Methods, and New Results.” This short course provides a focused introduction to modern portfolio construction, starting from the classical Markowitz framework and leading to recent advances in theory and practice.
