Congratulations to @FloridaState alumnus Yi Zhang, who has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences (@theNASciences)!
Zhang — who earned his doctorate through the Institute of Molecular Biophysics (@mobfsu) in the FSU College of Arts and Sciences — currently serves as the Fred S. Rosen endowed Professor of Pediatrics and Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School (@harvardmed) and Boston Children’s Hospital (@BostonChildrens), as well as an investigator for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (@hhmi_science).
"Being elected to the National Academy of Sciences is not only an honor for me, but also an honor for all of my previous trainees as it means that their works done in my lab have finally been recognized,” Zhang said.

Join us in celebrating Laura Reina (@FSUPhysics), who was recently named a 2026-2027 Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor!
The Lawton Award, established in 1957, is the highest honor @FloridaState faculty members can bestow upon one of their own, recognizing sustained excellence in research, teaching and service.
Reina is an internationally recognized leader in high-energy theoretical particle physics whose work focuses on understanding the fundamental building blocks of the universe.
Her research sits at the intersection of theory and experiment, helping scientists interpret data from major facilities such as the Large Hadron Collider and test predictions tied to the Standard Model of particle physics. Her work has contributed to studies connected to the discovery and continued analysis of the Higgs boson.
