This is how food is wasted in our markets. Our small holder farmers always face a glut and food spoilage after harvest due to almost zero storage facilities and processing factories. Meanwhile we are a food in-secure country with many going to bed hungry. Hon @EricOpokuMP what are we doing as a country towards zero food waste? #ZeroWasteDay

Before I installed my solar-powered irrigation system, I was inspired by a farmer running a 15-acre farm powered by a strong solar pumps and a mighty diesel backup. On this farm, irrigation never stopped. With that inspiration, I borrowed his plan and strategy. Now I’m a free farmer. The future is solar power. This is not cheap, but it’s freedom. #LetsGrowTogether

I chose to focus more on maize this season not because it’s the easiest crop. But because it makes the most sense for where I am right now. Maize gives me: – Faster turnover (shorter production cycle = quicker cashflow) – Easier market access (high demand, easier to sell) – Lower operational complexity compared to other crops But more importantly… It works well alongside cassava. Cassava gives longer-term stability, while maize brings quicker returns. 👉 That combination helps me: – Spread risk across crops – Maintain cashflow – Maximize profit potential per season And most importantly, make use of every bit of land available. At this stage, I’m not chasing size. I’m focused on: → understanding my costs → improving execution → building a system that can scale Every decision on the farm now is intentional. Because in agriculture, the crop you choose is not just farming… It’s strategy. 🌱

I’m building a multi-million cedi agribusiness in Ghana from scratch. No tractors/ heavy machinery No investors (yet). Just land, risk, and execution. Here’s what I’m doing: 🧵

5 DAYS TO INAUGURAL LAUNCH OF FAMA (GHANA’s FIRST AI-POWERED FARMING ROBOT) 🤖 On April 4th, we are demonstrating FAMA live, with government, industry, academia, and some of Ghana’s largest food producers in attendance. This is not a product showcase. It is the beginning of something much larger. For decades, the conversation around feeding a growing population has circled the same constraints. Not enough land. Not enough labour. Not enough scale. The tools available to farmers have not kept pace with the urgency of the problem. That changes now. What we are demonstrating on April 4th is proof that autonomous crop production is no longer theoretical. It is operational, it is precise, and it is ready. And we believe that when the right people witness it firsthand, the conversation in this country around agricultural technology will never be the same. We are grateful for every stakeholder who has chosen to be part of this moment. The work ahead requires all of us — policy, capital, research, and production — moving in the same direction. The revolution in global agriculture is not coming. It is already here. For more information and to receive an invitation to attend, call 024 972 2815. We will see you on the field. 3farmate.com #agtech #robotics #ghana #agriculture #precisionfarming #artificialintelligence #foodsecurity

Hello, Ghana 🇬🇭 Your Excellency, @JDMahama Hello Africa and the world. We @3farmatebots are proud to announce the official launch of FAMA—Ghana's FIRST AI-powered autonomous farming robot for large-scale crop production. Founded in 2021 by @oxncgen (CEO) and @koffi_cobbin (CTO), the company began in a dorm room at @KNUSTGH, where its first prototype was developed. Since then, the team has engineered FAMA into a full-scale autonomous robot capable of planting seeds, applying fertilizer, weeding, and spraying across real farm environments. FAMA navigates using a vision-based AI system instead of GPS, allowing it to operate reliably in areas where GPS is unavailable or inconsistent. The robot runs on batteries charged by solar panels while in the field and can operate across uneven terrain, loose and muddy soils, and variable weather conditions. A single operator can oversee multiple robots, each covering 27 to 35 acres per day with sub-85mm planting precision. 3Farmate targets large-scale staple crop producers in Ghana, starting with corn and soybeans. We operate a service model, charging farmers per acre and removing the need for upfront equipment investment. Over 70 farmers and several large-scale crop production companies are currently in discussions, with commercial deployments beginning in the 2026 planting season. Approximately $200,000 has been raised to date, including investment from @776foundation (Alexis Ohanian, Reddit co-founder) and a grant from @kicghana. Our team consists of young engineers specializing in robotics, embedded systems, software, and mechanical design. With 8 major iterations, 60+ field test runs, 100+ cumulative acres covered, and thousands of runtime hours in real farm conditions, FAMA is market-ready to become the ultimate farmer-assistant. We built FAMA right here in Ghana, inspired by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s belief that “Africa must industrialize to achieve true independence.” We built FAMA as a true testament to every young engineer in Africa that “IT IS POSSIBLE.” FAMA is designed to operate seamlessly on Ghanaian soil and is adaptable to diverse agricultural environments worldwide. Join us as we drive innovation across global agriculture. We call on the government of Ghana, stakeholders, international organizations, and agri-industry leaders to partner with us in transforming agriculture together. This is not history in the making, because history has already been made, and we thank you for being a part of our journey. On this note, we are officially launched! For more information, visit 3farmate.com. 3FARMATE – The future is here.

I had a vision. I worked on it. I experimented several times, and I got some results. I needed help to refine that output into a finished product, but I was told, “We cannot offer you any form of help unless you pay this amount of money.” As a young person with a promising idea to turn waste into a valuable product—with a business model for community development and an already written concept note—if I am unable to raise that amount, that means my idea remains stagnant not due to lack of ability or vision, but due to limited access to resources and support. Whatever I have started, I WILL FINISH.

1. i used part of my stipend as a graduate student here in the U.S. to lay the foundation for a crop and livestock breeding and research center in Aboabo (ER, Ghana). this project reflects my vision to create sustainable agribusiness investments and employment opportunities for young people. 1a. i put together a trusted team of young professionals, including a lawyer, an accountant, an agriculturist, a project manager, and a personal assistant, to oversee this project. 2. i am currently experimenting with extracting high-quality organic oil and producing a clean, cosmetic-grade product from fruit waste. a hydraulic press machine has been custom-built in partnership with a local metal fabricator. 2a. we have conducted several trials, and so far, the critical barrier is that the process has only yielded juices and a black crude oil. i reached out to a research center in ghana for help refining the black oil, but I was told they only support funded projects — and now I am stuck. a REPOST to help me connect with experts in the following fields would be greatly appreciated: 1. food technology (oil extraction & refining) 2. chemical engineering (process optimization & extraction methods) 3. lipid chemistry / biochemistry (oil composition & purification) working with my team at 3farmate has shaped my agri-engineering acumen and empowered me to initiate personal projects that develop solutions benefiting both communities and industries. GOD BLESS MY HOMELAND, GHANA 🇬🇭

#STOPGALAMSEYNOW BUILDING A BIOREACTOR SOLUTION FOR GALAMSEY POLLUTION The fight against galamsey is proving to be a never-ending battle. That realization forced a shift in perspective for me to explore the possibility of building a bioreactor system capable of engineering microbes to reduce mercury levels and other toxic byproducts discharged into our water bodies. I dove into research—reading multiple thesis papers on water purification systems developed by Ghanaians without proof of a functional, scalable product. In 2024, I reached out to experts in the field of synthetic biology, to seek practical pathways to turn theory into a working solution to protect our water bodies, the environment and marine life. I have taken initial steps toward developing a solution to this problem and am looking to connect with like-minded individuals interested in sustainable development to collaborate on a pilot project. The #StopGalamseyNow campaign is just talk because of the election. The saddest part is that, aside from stopping the operations, the government will need to treat the contamination with chemicals in the water and soil, and it will take years for the environment to recover.

In 1995, a nurse broke hospital rules to place a newborn into her twin sister’s incubator. The baby was not expected to survive. Kyrie and Brielle Jackson were born 12 weeks early at a hospital in the United States. Each weighed roughly two pounds. They were placed in separate incubators, standard practice to prevent infection. Kyrie gained strength. Brielle did not. Three weeks after birth, Brielle went into critical condition. Her oxygen dropped. Her heart rate spiked. Her skin turned bluish-grey. Nurse Gayle Kasparian tried everything. She held her. She had her father hold her. She wrapped her in a blanket. Nothing worked. Kasparian remembered hearing about a practice used in parts of Europe but never tried in American hospitals. She placed Brielle into Kyrie’s incubator. Their father described what happened next: “She snuggled up to Kyrie and she was just fine. It was immediate. It was absolutely immediate.” Within minutes, Brielle’s oxygen levels were the best they had been since she was born. As she slept, Kyrie stretched her left arm across her sister’s body and held her. Photographer Chris Christo captured the moment. The image spread around the world and became known as “The Rescuing Hug.” Hospitals across multiple countries began placing premature twins together, a practice that had been resisted for decades. Both girls went home healthy. They are now 30.
