Not a study, not a survey - but the actual live data from every @OctopusEnergy Cosy heat pump installed in real homes is now online. And it shows that over 80% of Cosy heat pumps were cheaper to run than a gas boiler over the last year and delivered a COP of 3.7 over the whole year (about 4.3x more efficient than a gas boiler) There’s so much disinformation from fossil fuel lobbyists on heat pumps - and anecdote based on bad installs or out of date tech - but we hear time and time again how much Octopus customer la love their heat pumps. Cosy heat pumps can run as hot as a boiler (70C+), can often be installed with no radiator changes and no new insulation, work with microbore piping, can often retain your old hot water tank if you have one. But so much more - comfort sensors in up to ten rooms, optional remote support and servicing, software updates to literally make your heating better without a visit. Effortlessly working with smart tariffs to save money. British designed, British manufactured and thousands of great British jobs. Helping insulate Brits from the last gas crisis, this gas crisis and more to come. See the data for yourself: octopus.energy/cosy-heat-pump…

@armintalic I’m on the variable too and can’t decide when or if to fix. Just bear in mind that the variable rate is likely to rise on 1st July.

It feels like I’m better off staying on the variable IOG and seeing what the drop light look like. This fixed deal is a small drop in overnight but also a small increase in daytime, so with a 75/25 split in my average usage, I’d probably end up paying more. All good, thanks for the help.

Hey @OctopusEnergy. I wasn’t aware that there was a ‘fixed’ option for IOG? When I look at available tariffs to switch to, they’re regular fixed electricity options, not IOG? This is in relation to the tariff changes I’ve seen a load of fixed customer share. Thanks in advance.

@Roberts71B @OctopusEnergy I think I’m leaning towards that. I imagine it’s a lot easier to manage too, than Agile.

@Earth2075 @OctopusEnergy I am on flat rate as I prefer to know price per kw for export. Plus batteries do not always export early mornings for max sale price

@KathrynPorter26 Sorry Kathryn, on Sunday renewables generated over 60% of the U.K’s electricity. Gas produced just 12.3%. If I may say so, this is going horribly for you.

Sorry Kathryn, yesterday wind provided 54.9% of U.K electricity; renewables 58.5%; and gas a paltry 17.8%. Last year, domestic renewables provided 44% of U.K electricity. You realise I can use the internet, right?

@jonburkeUK Yesterday gas was the biggest form of generation The forecast for Thursday is for wind to drop to 875 MW at lunchtime Relying on the weather is a fool's game

@StansburyDarren @Tesla For the same capacity, I found them all to be similarly priced, to be honest. Mine’s £6,374 installed. Plenty of smaller-capacity ones are available for less. Lead time, Tesla ecosystem, familiarity, reviews, and brand name were all factors.

@Earth2075 @Tesla I really cannot fathom why people opt for these batteries. So much more bang for your buck available out there.

Well, my thinking was that I’ll definitely drain the whole battery each day. There may be the odd occasion in summer when I don’t, so I was wondering if it might be worth getting a higher price on those occasions or just putting it into the car 🤔 Then again, I imagine Agile might become a full-time job – checking the best times and adjusting the Powerwall each day to match 😩

@psbroke @Tesla Yeah it’s through Octopus. I’ll speak with the coordinator then 👍🏼 I’m hoping the DNO won’t require a fuse upgrade like they did when the heat pump was installed.

@Earth2075 @Tesla I suspect you can apply to Octopus if you are with them?? The Tesla agreement is only accepted after you get your DNO certificate, as adding battery to an existing solar installation will require you notifying them 👍

@Earth2075 @Tesla I was fortunate as had export agreed but Tesla already on my PW2, so an email from the installer sorted that out. And we already had the octopus export tariff set up too, so was pretty painless.
