Telling that Fikile Mbalula and the ANC have chosen to not refute a single piece of evidence presented in AfriForum's dossier, and instead resorted to simply trying to smear AfriForum as "bad", and therefore insinuate the Mbalula Files' contents as false. Telling, very telling.

The war in Iran is at a crossroads. It could now go one of two ways. The first is de-escalation with negotiations between the US and Iran, probably in Pakistan, which would focus on the 15-point plan sent by the US to leaders in Tehran yesterday. This would likely mean a reduction in attacks and greater flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz in the short term, while in the medium term the focus would be on stabilizing a government in Tehran that would be less hostile to the West and Western allies in the Gulf region, securing Iran's more than 400kg of enriched uranium, and international control of the Strait of Hormuz. For this option to succeed, radical elements of the remaining regime in Tehran must be limited in their influence and a more moderate grouping must emerge with the necessary influence over the remaining security forces. The alternative is a next phase of the war - probably another three to four weeks (like the current phase which is slowly but surely coming to an end) and which will be an escalation in conflict, especially around Hormuz. The US has deployed 5000 marines and 2000 paratroopers to army bases in the Middle East in the past two weeks. Should negotiations with Iran fail we can expect a massive assault on the area along the Strait of Hormuz to limit attacks on ships. An operation could also be launched to locate and secure the enriched uranium while attempts are made to kill senior leaders of the regime in Tehran. This would not be a full-scale invasion of Iran, but rather a series of specialist operations. At this point we must ask what the role of other actors is. It is clear that Saudi Arabia prefers that the US continue with the military operation to kill more members of the regime, especially radical elements. Furthermore, there is an increasing chance that more Gulf countries could join the fray militarily, with the Emirates in particular to be watched. The alliance of countries willing to contribute to securing the Strait of Hormuz is likely to expand over the next few days. Ultimately, Iran is more isolated than it has been in many decades.
