@Lynn17814347 @StigmaB47868 Oh do fuck off. Not all mental illness stems from abuse some are just disorders that need treating. Is the treatment we have today perfect? No is it a damm site better than what we used to have and therefore shows progress? Yes

@StigmaB47868 It’s all bs labels and drugs for labels and reframing abuse as a disorder instead of locking up the evil gits that caused it all

Fiona doesn't believe that mental illness exists. Fiona also believes that psych meds cause mental illness. Fiona ain't the sharpest tool in the shed. Don't be like Fiona.

@SF_England Hi. I am applying to restart uni in September 2026. To do this I need to apply for Compelling Personal Reasons and DSA. My CPN needs to know a couple of things before he can write the evidence for me. Could you please let me know who he should address the letter(s) to

@Gilb0803 @NatashaMDay @ACouchois I mean I never asked for sympathy, and I reckon my life's turned out alright given the rather rough hand I've been dealt at times. I don't want sympathy for myself as I don't need it. I want recognition and compassion that for some people lift isn't so simple. I'm alright myself

@FereldanWizard @NatashaMDay @ACouchois Make better life choices then, do you want sympathy? If you live half an hour away from a hospital and don’t drive. This is a factor you can affect, move, drive or get a better job. Too many people in this country need their arse wiping for them.

@nuwandiss I've got a friend with bipolar disorder who's just been evicted due to not paying her rent in a 5 month manic episode. She's having to live a in a council funded hotel due to lack of the mental health and social care in her area

@Gilb0803 @NatashaMDay @ACouchois On a bad self employment month I rely on UC to top up my income. If I need A&E out of regular hours it's a £40 taxi to my nearest A&E. So that's suddenly a £90 trip (not including getting back). If that comes just before my payday, I'm really gonna struggle to find that £90

@FereldanWizard @NatashaMDay @ACouchois Why wouldn’t they be able to afford it? We have a very high minimum wage, a very generous benefit system, if they cannot afford these appointments I would suggest making some lifestyle choices…. We can’t give everything to everyone forever

@Gilb0803 @NatashaMDay @ACouchois And what about those who genuinely need a GP/A&E visit but wouldn't be able to afford it? I'd argue the majority of people who go probably believe they need the visit.

@NatashaMDay @ACouchois Yes, we should just pay for what we use. People would think twice about booking a gp appointment for a headache and going to a&e because they don’t want to wait for a doctor. £50 to go to a&e per visit. £20 for a gp appointment with a free prescription

Since 2015, Wes Streeting has accepted £372,000 from private health care links! This should be a illegal for a health secretary in charge of the NHS. There’s a clear conflict of interest & raises concerns re: probity & integrity Who is the health secretary really working for?

@nuwandiss I've been admitted to an (excellent) crisis house several times for a short admission when chronic suicidality has got to unmanageable levels. I don't see why short admissions to a good crisis house or an inpatient ward can't be appropriate for safety at times

Reflecting on this: 1. When does suicidality become chronic? 2. Do we acknowledge the cumulative risk is as great/higher 3. Can short admissions be appropriate for safety? 4. What about patients too unstable for therapy? 5. Is suicide prevention a priority for IP services too?
Rash05@JobbingPsych

@looneyfox1 @nuwandiss Chronic suicidality which is not directly linked to psychosis or melancholia is best addressed through psychotherapy. Inpatient services are not equipped for this Overpromising is letting patients down.

@nuwandiss @nikkijfox @medicalmodelbri @iDrSunny I think it's important to recognise admission can have its harms (as you do) especially if it's a detainment. What winds me up is blanket approaches some people have. I've heard it said they won't admit people with certain diagnosis cause they don't do well

@nikkijfox @medicalmodelbri @iDrSunny I do agree that admission can have its harms and these always need to be born in mind The ethical principles of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence and justice are a good starting point Reflecting on these and not being too dichotomous is helpful

I am worried with a response to this being either: Inpatient care isn’t appropriate for some people or All that suicides aren’t preventable The fact that this was a neglect verdict should make us all think hard about whether we are doing enough
Nikki Fox BBC@nikkijfox

Today a coroner Sonia Hayes (Essex) delivered the most thorough two and a half hour inquest conclusion I have ever heard. I couldn’t do it justice, it really should be recorded and broadcast in full. But here’s a small version of what was said and why it was important: ⬇️

@bananatransit @ishsulin Of course the government can fight back. Then the Drs are perfectly entitled to emigrate/go private in the UK/leave the field completely. Personally I think that would be rather disastrous in the long run

resident* doctors - and apparently training doctors is now a quirky little perk/benefit rather than mandatory in a healthcare service with not enough doctors absolutely embarrassing that the move is to threaten doctors for exercising their rights too lol
Shaun Lintern@ShaunLintern

Today @wesstreeting has put junior doctors on notice that taxpayers’ cash will not fund more training posts if they continue to strike, in interview with Sunday Times @cazjwheeler READ: thetimes.com/article/afbe06…

#DisabledTwitter It’s terrifying being a disabled person in the UK today. Demonised in the media; society thinking it’s openly acceptable to physically or verbally abuse us. No one is immune from becoming seriously unwell. A life changing disability. Having a break down.

I'm trying to explore my deep terror that "something bad" will happen to my partner. I will be talking about this at length in therapy, but in addition, does anyone who has lost their partner have any insight on like... what it was like, how you coped, how you're doing now etc?
