@CoachJeffLeach I have to agree with you. Some of these 12 year olds are so developed beyond 12’s of my generation. 12 today is the new 15 in development.

I constantly hear "The best players at 12 don't become the best players at 18" but I don't often see evidence of that. Been coaching in south central TX since 2009. I can tell you most of the best local high school seniors were amongst the best players at 12 w/few exceptions-

@CoachSwit I agree with and go a little deeper. I rarely see high school baseball coaches at local little league games. I don’t mean T-ball but the junior division. As a former HS coach, I attended every so often and made note of players in my district. Talked to coaches

Never understood H.S. coaches who ignore freshman or JV programs. That’s the future of your varsity team. Then they complain about no depth, culture, or players ready for varsity. If you only coach varsity, you’re not building a program—you’re just coaching a team.

Saw a lot of HS baseball games this season. Notes: 1. Get in the WEIGHT ROOM. 2. If a pitcher doesn’t have elite velo, it’s a heavy diet of off speed called from dugout. 3. Baseball IQ is extremely low. 4. Lack of team chemistry. 5. Zero synergy from orgs & HS staffs.

@CoachMongero Coach, t are so correct. As former high school baseball coach, I’ve observed my grandsons’ youth baseball games for years and the lack of basic fundamentals is alarming. If it were not for me, those two grandsons wouldn’t be fundamentally sound.

Been coaching baseball for 35 years. I can confidently say … The same fundamentals that won baseball games in my year #1 still wins them today. Even more so now, because others are neglecting the basics at an alarming rate. So many are mistakenly seeking a magic potion. When doing simple better than everyone else is the key. On offense, defense, team play, etc.

@WayneTyson11 Wait for the Little League District All-Stars games to begin. Every year during that time we would have so many delays and cancellations due to rain. ☔️

We had 2.8 inches of rain at our house in the past 24 hours. It was much needed. But to get us out of drought conditions, we need another 9-10 inches. I don't see us being out of drought conditions any time soon unless we have a tropical development of some sort. Glad for 2.8.

At what point does it officially become baseball season? Everyone juggling so many sports out of season, it's insane. It's May and we have people prioritizing flag football, soccer, aau basketball over baseball. I know we are all trying to make it work and keep our kids active but sometimes you have to say "no" as the parent. FOMO IS REAL!
