@inside_IL_intel This of course, is raving nonsense. As the Romans discovered, the further out you push your borders, the closer you are to your new enemies. The only solution is to crush Hezbollah and allow Lebanon to become a real state.

🔥🔥🔥 At a good hour - after endless urgings - we are starting to straighten out our new territory, up to the Litani River. The enemy villages are being erased, like in Gaza, and no trace will remain of them. We want the fencing of our territory on the Litani, and the removal of the last subjects of the enemy. The fearless Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, officially announced today: the hundreds of thousands who fled from the south to the Litani - will not be allowed to return, until there is security for the citizens of Israel at the old border, meaning they will never return again. And the basket of national achievements - is starting to fill up! Settling the new territories - is a rare opportunity! The kibbutz movement, the moshav movement, where are you? Time for your renewal, with new kibbutzim and moshavim in our new and beautiful territory. Everything is ours. 🚨🚨New on Gplanet: Negotiations, with whom, about what, and what are the chances? @KobeissiLetter Please, I don't know who is more delusional, Musk or Trump. Musk has repeatedly made ridiculous claims, designed to pump up his stock, that are either gross exaggerations or vaporware. It costs nothing to make these sort of claims, but gullible investors respond positively.

@GalvinAlmanza At least in law firms 80-90% of associates are gone within 5 years. The "golden children" are identified early and the others just run up billable hours. Same with consulting and VCs, etc. So you'd eliminate the make work employees - 80 hour works weeks are more about hazing.

“We’re in a tough spot, ladies and gentlemen,” Mattis said. “I can’t identify a lot of options.” Spot on — wars are not about how many targets you can destroy; they are about political outcomes you want to achieve. What’s the strategy? politico.com/news/2026/03/2…

@BillKristol No. It's time to double down and go for regime change. Irrespective of the original decision, there's a real opportunity to make a permanent change that will make the world a better place. This isn't Iraq, the Iranian people would jump at the chance if it's provided.

@KobeissiLetter A democratic Persia would be the dominant economic power in the region, given both oil and the diaspora talent. And a nightmare for Russia, aligning with Azerbaijan, Armenia, etc. as a southern bulwark against Russian expansion

BREAKING: Saudi Arabia's Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been "pushing" President Trump to continue the war against Iran, per NYT. Saudi's Mohammed bin Salman says: 1. The US-Israeli military campaign presents a “historic opportunity” to remake the Middle East 2. Iran poses a "long-term threat" to the Gulf that can only be eliminated by getting rid of the government 3. The US should consider putting troops in Iran to seize energy infrastructure and force the government out of power The Iran War is nearing its one-month mark.

@polyglotme @DanielBordmanOG So it's better to leave civilians so Hezbollah can embed themselves and create large scale civilian casualties? Hezbollah started this "war" by attacking Israel on behalf of Iran - new Israeli doctrine after Oct 7 - if you state you're going to kill us, we take it seriously.

@DanielBordmanOG a few things: since WW II, we have these new int'l laws called the 1949 Geneva Convention & its additional protocol. you might want to read up on them. & Israel didn't just blow up bridges, it ethnically cleansed several hundred thousand people, & leveled entire villages.

If you think blowing up a bridge is a war crime you are the problem. The final scene in Saving Private Ryan is about blowing up a bridge. Denying your enemy the ability to move heavy equipment over a river is not against the Geneva convention or whatever.
Daniel Lambert@dlLambo

The IDF has now destroyed 7 bridges over the Litani river. Blatant war crimes to seize a massive chunk of Lebanon. And the world is talking about empty ambulances in high questionable circumstances... When will they be stopped - they're destroying the world.

@SKordasti That's why they want to cut a deal. They'll sacrifice Hezbollah, even the missiles, if they can retain the mechanism for internal repression - they can always rebuild missiles and proxies with oil money. Which is why Israel, SA, UAE want to continue the war until regime change.

For the first time, I heard in the mainstream media the accurate and real reason for the resistance of the mullahs and IRGC in Iran: “They’re fighting for their existence. They know that if they if they lose this war, their biggest problem will not be American bombs from the air. Their biggest problem will be their own citizens, (they) will hanging them from lampposts in Tehran. You know, they’ve done so much damage to their own country and their own people for so long that there’s a lot of resentment built up there they can’t afford to show any weakness.” #IranWar

@McFaul The fundamental problem is Trump doesn't like Democracy. He wants pliable leaders who'll cut deals with him, so he can boast of his prowess. He is profoundly ignorant of history, economics and foreign cultures, so totally clueless when it comes to foreign relations.

Maybe. But right now, the dictatorships that were in place at the beginning of the second Trump administration are all in place now. All 3 places. A change in leaders is not a change in regime. In 1989, communist regimes became democratic regimes. But more drama to come.
Senator Ted Cruz@SenTedCruz

In the next 6 months, we could see new governments in Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba. If we end up with governments in those countries that want to be friends with America, that’d be the biggest geopolitical shift since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

@ekdouc @McFaul Having been a USAID advisor, the impact of economists is greatly exaggerated. The real problem is these new states lacked the institutions or culture to function, corruption was the norm, cultivated under Communism. Takes time to build institutions, middle class, private sector

@McFaul Actually, under the guidance of US economists, many of those former communist nations became hollowed out oligarchies with economies and population-wide health outcomes that still haven’t recovered from shock therapy.

@Noahpinion Progressives are 15% of vote, moderate Dems 25%, Independents 20-25%. If you want lasting policy change, you need supermajority of close to 60%, take House, Senate, majority of governors and the WH. To do so, you have to win majority of Independent vote.

Amazing how the distinguished American professor believes whatever the Iranian regime says and doesn't believe his own president, during a time of war. There is a line between opposing a certain policy (war), and whatever this is.

@Noahpinion Hard for Progressives to compromise, accept a minority position and support supermajority positions. Because they self-identify as "righteous," much like the Religious Right, compromise is a betrayal of beliefs and thus evil. Politics is GOT: "You win or you(r programs) die."

Yes. Many Democrats live in a blue cultural bubble in which 2010s progressivism is the new normal. But outside that bubble, 2010s progressivism is considered radical and extremist. One reason Dems can't moderate is that they think they already ARE moderates.
Ramez Naam@ramez

Thinking about this more in relation to @Noahpinion and others' feeling that progressives / "leftists" have supplanted "liberals". Independents and Republicans see Dems as much further left in self-identification than the average Dem sees themselves. Distorted views here. Dems and Independents have much more accurate views of how Republicans self-identify.

@Noahpinion It's also the primary system, Progressives are 40% of Democratic vote, so majority in many Blue districts. They're also delusional, thinking miracle turnouts can turn states Progressive when all studies find nonvoters tend to be similar or slightly right of voters.
