Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere. International Women’s Day is more than a moment of recognition—it’s a call to continue building a world where every woman and girl has the opportunity to lead, create, thrive, and be heard. From boardrooms to classrooms, communities to homes, the impact of women’s voices and leadership shapes a better future for us all. Let’s honour the progress made, uplift the stories that inspire us, and recommit to advancing equality every single day. Happy International Women’s Day 2026. 💜 #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2026 #AccelerateAction

Toronto’s recycling program was the gold standard. Built by public workers. Accountable to residents. Now it’s diluted under a contractor model. This isn’t about the workers, it’s about the system. Public service delivers #accountability. Contracts deliver profit. Listen: local416.ca/left-looking-i…

This wasn’t a routine transition bump. The scale of disruption shows the system wasn’t ready and it wasn’t tailored to Toronto. Workers didn’t fail. Residents didn’t misunderstand. The government model changed. Listen: local416.ca/left-looking-i…

Accountability matters. Especially when public services change. On the latest episode of Left Looking In, @Ted_Aivalis breaks down how the blue box transition has blurred responsibility and left frontline workers caught in the middle: local416.ca/left-looking-i…

Toronto’s emergency workers show up every day — on the streets, in our neighbourhoods, and at our city’s most critical moments.   Mayor Olivia Chow @MayorOliviaChow understands that emergency services aren’t a “nice‑to‑have”. They’re the foundation of a safe and thriving city. Local 416 welcomes her commitment to a fairer funding model and her support for the workers who keep #Toronto running. Police, Fire, and Paramedics. This is what a united front looks like. @TPFFA @Ted_Aivalis @Local416 @TPAca @TPACallanan #StrongerTogether

This month, and every day, TCEU Local 416 members honour the profound contributions Black Canadians have made and continue to make in shaping Canada’s social and cultural fabric.  Let us continue to work together to eradicate systemic racism in the workplace and the world. #BlackHistoryMonth #StrongerTogether

There’s a winter storm incoming, and TCEU Local 416’s Winter Maintenance & Transportation crews will be out around the clock clearing snow and keeping Toronto moving.   Please help keep workers and everyone safe:   • Give snowplows and salt trucks plenty of space • Never pass or follow equipment closely • Slow down near crews working on roads and sidewalks • Park off snow routes and narrow streets when possible • Clear your sidewalks and nearby drains   Our crews are working in tough, dangerous conditions so the city can keep running. A little patience makes a big difference.   Stay safe, Toronto — and thank a snow worker. ❄️🚜 #StrongerTogether

Shout out to Toronto’s winter maintenance crews 👏 While the weather’s been rough, Toronto Civic Employees Union Local 416 transportation and winter operations workers have been out there keeping roads and sidewalks safe. This is what experienced, accountable public service looks like. Proud of the work they do and proud these services remain public.
