I was denied entry to Mar-a-Lago tonight for a dinner I was invited to last month. I was told it was over my “criticism of Israel and the Iran war.” Next stop: Taco Bell.

The bond market has NOTHING to do with Hormuz. It has everything to do with $29T in national debt and $2.5+T in annual deficit and the Fed going crazy trying to exercise monetary policy by buying and selling Fed bonds in its open market activities to keep interest rates from going nuts. Don’t believe me? Watch the Fed’s balance sheet and the holdings of “friendly” foreign buyers…

Bigger story here: implied range of an Iranian IRBM from a launch box in central Iran, with a range of ~4500 km (distance to Diego Garcia). Theoretically could also target sites into Central Europe.

Iran fired a pair of intermediate-range ballistic missiles at Diego Garcia, a joint U.S.-UK base in the Indian Ocean. One missile failed in flight, and another was engaged by a US Navy destroyer using an SM-3 missile.

We don't use it? Five ships: APL Eagle, Alliance Fairfax, CS Anthem, Stena Imperative and Maersk Yorktown with 100+ American mariners are stuck in the Persian Gulf right now. No communication with the military or navy about escorts or when they can expect to leave the Gulf. All the ships are part of the US Maritime and Tanker security programs.
Acyn@Acyn

Reporter: Do you plan to escort ships through the strait with or without allies? Trump: We're doing well there. We don't use the strait. We don't need it. Europe needs it. Korea, Japan, China. A lot of other people. They'll have to get involved a little bit.

I can't get over the fact that Dune is about an oppressed people fighting for their homeland, waging a jihad to bring down a hegemonic empire by threatening to cut off the flow of their most precious commodity after the empire had assassinated their religious leader's father.

@ripplebrain And yet they have yet to down 1 aircraft or sink 1 naval ship? Something doesnt make sense with your statement. Also, USA was suppose to leave IRAQ and most of the ME over 10 years ago. USA still projecting power and dropping 500 lb bombs at will. So ? Fog of War.

US RETREATS/ABANDONMENT OF KEY STRATEGIC ZONES AND ASSETS: - The largest airbase in the Middle East - The most strategically important and busiest naval base in the Middle East, HQ of the US Fifth Fleet - Baghdad Green Zone, US embassy, possibly all of Iraq - The waters of the Persian Gulf - Half a dozen other large bases in Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, KSA Naval assets do not have freedom of movement and will have to increasingly travel vast distances to resupply. Even distant bases are under threat. Attack aircraft have to refuel multiple times to reach Iranian territory. Iran is systematically pushing the US out of the Middle East.

Iran has worked for years to get sanctions relief through diplomacy. It has failed. 3 weeks of war, the US has offered sanctions relief to Iran without Tehran even asking for it...
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent@SecScottBessent

Iran is the head of the snake for global terrorism, and through President Trump’s Operation Epic Fury, we are winning this critical fight at an even faster pace than anticipated. In response to Iran’s terrorist attacks against global energy infrastructure, the Trump Administration will continue to deploy America’s economic and military might to maximize the flow of energy to the world, strengthen global supply, and seek to ensure market stability. Today, the Department of the Treasury is issuing a narrowly tailored, short-term authorization permitting the sale of Iranian oil currently stranded at sea. At present, sanctioned Iranian oil is being hoarded by China on the cheap. By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran. In essence, we will be using the Iranian barrels against Tehran to keep the price down as we continue Operation Epic Fury. This temporary, short-term authorization is strictly limited to oil that is already in transit and does not allow new purchases or production. Further, Iran will have difficulty accessing any revenue generated and the United States will continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the international financial system. So far, the Trump Administration has been working to bring around 440 million additional barrels of oil to the global market, undercutting Iran’s ability to leverage its disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump’s pro-energy agenda has driven U.S. oil and gas production to record levels, strengthening energy security and lowering fuel costs. Any short-term disruption now will ultimately translate into longer-term economic gains for Americans – because there is no prosperity without security.

Will somebody please explain to me how, with the Strait of Hormuz a no-go-zone for the U.S. Navy, and our warships driven out of the Persian Gulf, we can support a USMC amphibious landing on Kharg Island, 750 miles from the eastern tip of Oman?🧵 Is the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group going to storm into the Persian Gulf, where our Burke-class destroyers won't go? Obviously not. This idea is insane. How about by helo and tilt-rotor? Out of range. What if they stage in Kuwait or Saudi Arabia for helo and Osprey lifts across the Gulf? Russia and China will tell Iran where to aim their drones and missiles while the force is assembling. Maybe a mass paradrop? Straight into an "Alamo" siege. Great idea. Not. What if the Marines just capture some of those "small" islands in the Strait of Hormuz? Qeshm is bigger than Okinawa. Larak is bigger than Iwo Jima. Any idea how many Marines and Soldiers it took to conquer just those 2 islands, at what cost in KIA and WIA? I keep reading absolute MORONS on X telling how some A-10s are "softening up" an area larger than South Vietnam, so that a few thousand Marines can attack and hold . . . what? It's as if space aliens studying only still images had no sense of scale of earth creatures, and thought a mouse could eat an elephant. It boggles my mind.

Absolute insanity. A leaked report reveals the White House literally planned to let Israel strike Iran first, just to force Iran to attack American troops. They wanted US soldiers to take the hit so they could justify starting a massive war to the public.

Moskowitz: Allegedly, Corey Lewandowski was shaking people down. He was saying, ‘If you want a contract, you’ve got to go hire this firm.’ That $100,000 number we heard, where anything over $100,000 had to come to Kristi Noem’s desk—well, it turns out it did go to her desk, but Corey Lewandowski was sitting at her desk. And that was really all about Corey being able to see where the money was going so that he knew who, allegedly, to go shake down. You don’t know who to shake down—you don’t know who to force to hire you as a lobbyist—if you don’t know who’s owed money from the department. That obviously created a tremendous amount of bureaucracy and slowed the department down as well. Then he put his minions in all of these places—on the procurement teams—so he would have insight into procurement. He could tell them: this goes to that company, this goes to that company. The committees are going to ask for bank records. They’re going to see all sorts of things. I think what we’re going to find is that his wealth has increased dramatically.
