🚨FIRE UPDATE🚨 - I think it’s fair to assume this whole corner of Glasgow Central has now gone thanks to the fire. So sad. Such a beautiful building. They don’t catch fire by themselves, what the hell happened, and why does this KEEP happening to our historic buildings?!!

@mrsverypicky @BenDC_ Yes that's correct but something had to ignite to cause that. Buildings have back up systems for emergency lighting that utilise Lithium batteries. Likely that's what was in the back of the vape store

@EncaraPedri @BenDC_ So... Complex for a twitter post, but, in short, it's lack of compliance. To me, it appears that the fire started as a result of lithium batteries. Those need to be carefully maintained, checked and managed. Unfortunately, businesses now operate without necessary safety.
