Chelsea players were warned not to form their infamous huddle around the ball against Newcastle United – but did so anyway, leading to the farcical encircling of referee Paul Tierney Read our exclusive by @SamWallaceTel below 🖇️ telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/…

More shoddy ‘journalism’ from @BBCMOTD to mock the assistant referee rather than questioning why the substitutes were stopping him doing his job

@BBCMOTD @BBCSport Yeah 100% subs fault. Have to warm up right back side and that's common knowledge

I keep hearing the great Glenn Hoddle talking about the greater size of the Camp Nou pitch. I believe it is UEFA regulation size - 115 x 74 yards. They just make it feel immense.

@HACKETTREF No, it really isn’t. The TV graphic includes the 5cm tolerance every time. Whether it should exist is another matter, but there’s no funny business going on

@kickitout As far as I can tell from reading the relevant documents, the regulator has no remit to consider refereeing governance, which feels like a missed opportunity. A lack of diversity - race, gender, geography - persists despite recent efforts to address the first two of those issues

Our CEO, Samuel Okafor, spoke to BBC Sport about why the Independent Football Regulator has a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to make football more reflective of the communities it serves. 🔗 Read our full recommendations here: bit.ly/4bk5j74

@FansAgainstVAR_ Your campaign has many merits that are all washed away by even a hint that there is corruption behind the scenes. It discredits everything else you say

@97RedSlots @WhistleBlowerDK I can’t be sure, but knowing the way Bankes and his team operate, I suspect his assistant told him down the headset that, from his position, Murphy was guilty of simulation. That’s more likely than the ref being influenced by player reaction

@WhistleBlowerDK @Refsplaining How do you explain that Banks 100% signalled for a goal kick, arm extended, palm down & was jigged 10+ yard away from the penalty area until Maquire & Fernandes came running to him protesting & calling for a card? He clearly stops moving away and then issues a caution to Murphy.

🗣️ “I despise the culture around the referees that have made mistakes.” “It takes unbelievable courage to referee a match on a stage like that.” “You know the ones it has happened to… Ridiculed. Persecuted. I think it’s disgusting.” One manager, one day, maybe

@Refsplaining It takes courage to referee a game at any level. Especially for the youngsters starting out.

@97RedSlots @WhistleBlowerDK The disallowed goal in the NLD was reviewed by the Premier League’s independent panel of one ref and four ex-players. They voted 5-0 that the decision was correct. I didn’t like it, but it’s not ‘wrong’

@Refsplaining @WhistleBlowerDK Graham - Why are there so many errors when VAR exists? Peter Banks 2 recent errors (disallowing goal for Spurs vs Arsenal when it’s a clear dive by Gabriel (contact is not a foul) & and sending off Murphy for a dive when Banks signalled ‘goal kick’ until Utd players protested?)

@FansAgainstVAR_ The atmosphere is almost always muted. TV companies like the viewing figures in the Far East…
