@pathpapi Lots of great tips! I would add that when you love or are excited by what others might think is the “boring” or “mundane” aspect of a subspecialty, it is calling to you. There’s so much to experience in pathology, just take it all in and you’ll figure it out.

man I really love pathology 🔬
finished blood bank service and I loved it.
Frozen service this week and it’s 🥶🔥👍🏾
Unknown slide sessions, hemepath, and even forensics are very interesting.
How did you decide on your fellowship?

Because nail anatomy is hard! ...and a bonus #pathology of subungual epidermoid inclusions-onycholemmal cysts. Thought to arise 2/2 trauma. Found emanating from distal nail matrix and/or nail bed, filled with concentric keratin, have absent granular layer. #dermpath #SilviPearls

@KK_medicine My desk was essentially the survival kit for everyone. Always stocked with snacks, drinks, ibuprofen/allergy pills, batteries - you name it! And if they weren’t sure which desk was mine? All the ultra colorful decorations and Aggretsuko plastered on it made it pretty obvious 😁

@SmudgeCell To quote one of my attendings during residency, “remember, you are a physician first, a pathologist second”.

@MurtazaMDPhD This. It’s been 2.5 years since I’ve seen my family. Missed my sisters wedding. Had to cancel our wedding. And constantly dealing with people being oblivious to the constant sacrifices. It stings and there is no way of making up for that lost time (in my case? A full decade).

GI Histology essentials for Pathologists. Have tried to summarize especially for new residents starting #PathologyResidency!

@instapathbio Dance (tap, ballet, and jazz - even took quite a few exams towards becoming an instructor). So many other sports (volleyball, basketball, badminton, cross country, track), student govt, drama, yearbook… I’ve always been involved with something and have had amazing experiences 😊
English

@anueru432 Yes to everything mentioned! The opportunity to connect with others across the globe with shared interests? Amazing! All the path related tweetorials??? Epic! Learning and growing with everyone on this platform has truly been priceless and wouldn’t trade it for anything 😁

Heyyo #pathtwitter! I'm preparing a presentation with students from my school about the magic of exploring pathology through twitter! |
What do you think are "essentials" I should include? 🤔

For all #dermpath lovers there, if you are fan of Elston book mnemonics, remember “here comes big green leafy veggies “ for PEH with Intraepidermal neutrophilic microabscess. Now female 30s, lesion on nose. Clinical r/o sarcoidosis. Case shared by my friend J-P Cai, MD. Thoughts?

English

@KK_medicine Lol that would’ve been nice! Three months of white coats (and another month of white coat when I was in house) and they didn’t remove the “must be in dress clothes” requirement until after I had completed my rotations - including if called in during the middle of the night 😩
English

@drkontheway Felt this as an IMG MD too. Ended up choosing some rotations that had low or no extra tuition because of the housing/travel costs/etc that already pile up. Hoping you found a great rotation that you get to shine on!
English

@KK_medicine Or necessary for less clinical residencies (pathology anyone?). So frustrating from our perspective but hope you knock it out of the park!
