I get it now. Unlike an umbrella or eyeglasses, a respie sparks anger and resentment in people because they think it’s a symbol of belief instead of a tool of science. They take it as an invitation to disagree. I finally see it.

@thecakelin I can get amazing fit test scores from a cheap earloop kn95, better than I get with auras. Earloop kn95s can be just as good as n95s. It's very individual. And ppl should really just applaud the fact that someone is representing masking at all.

I really wish the CC community, especially white people, would stop recommending things other people can't afford or access. You don't know someone else's disabilities and finances and other circumstances that lead to what mask they chose to wear on 1 occasion.

Despite being called the r slur and mentally ill for masking, it's people telling me ear loop KN95s aren't a good enough mask that irritate the shit out of me. I know it comes from good intentions and the internet is full of unsolicited advice but..

These students were probably living in closely packed, ancient, poorly ventilated rooms. Spread of disease is inevitable. Many illnesses are more airborne than we'd like to think. It's sad that we didn't learn anything from the pandemic about proper ventilation.

They are, as we speak, still blissfully unaware of the war with Iran and all the knock-on effects that will have on everything. Not to mention all the things they've gotten so used to ignoring for the last 7 years.

Yeah, we're in the SEVENTH YEAR of this now. It's not like this was a brief thing that disabled folks had to weather through. This is life now, and we're effectively excluded from most of it unless we're willing to risk out lives or what's left of our health.
