Mamdani’s Independence Day speech: “As we mark 250 years, what do we see? We see a city of contradictions within a nation of contradictions. We see the wealthiest country in the history of the world, one where children go to sleep hungry while the world’s first trillionaire hungers for more. We see monopolies that dominate every industry and oligarchs who buy elections.” I couldn’t agree more with Mamdani’s diagnosis of the problem (our capitalist oligarchy), yet I couldn’t disagree more with his solution to the problem (funneling the masses right back into one of the two capitalist parties that serves the oligarchs). The path forward is to organize our workplaces and communities for a socialist alternative to the capitalist oligarchy, where workers own the means of production and resources are used for the benefit of all.

Would you rather sit in a 78-degree house or apartment for a few days when it's 100 outside, or risk losing power for hours, and possibly all your food in the fridge, and have it end up being 95 degrees inside? Can people even think anymore? I guess covid proved that they can't.

Our founders and even the framers of the 14th amendment lived under and intended on open borders. We had open borders for 150 years until 1921. So it’s completely inaccurate to say the framers and writers didn’t intend to give citizenship to illegals. It’s more accurate to say they didn’t intend on us creating a sub class of people. If you then want to argue about our tax dollars funding them, they also didn’t intend on us being taxed the way we are. They intended on a country where anyone could show up and try to make it on their own without government intrusion, without heavy tax and without forever wars. We are far far far removed from the original intention of this great nation.
