Many candidates for #AdoorableThursday, in Cambridge. On a walking tour run by the David Parr House, I visited parts of Cambridge hitherto unexplored. Orchard Street was one of them. Range of 13 cottage tenements c 1825. 1 storey with attics; gault brick with mansard tile roof.

@CathyRLowe @Fictionwitch Similar (but a little different) towards the botanical gardens: Fitzwilliam St. a pleasant mix of 3/4 storey town houses, similar again on Bateman St - Plenty of low rise, relatively high density housing examples around

@barry_wizard @StroudStory It shouldn't "always be locked" in my opinion - this is quite wrong. It was very dark inside & the Douglas Strachan window was my favourite feature. Jesus College chapel (just over the road) was thrilling, and apparently, easy to access.

@barry_wizard @StroudStory Yes, it was an opportunity that was too good to let slip, especially as it included a session inside All Saints, Jesus Lane, which I have heard can be difficult to access. I hope they run the tour again.

@markrwilliamson I've not read it yet but if it's anything like the other schemes it would be an autonomous vehicle with a safety driver So a bus then?

@AnthonyGri10669 Mouse kindly shared an old image showing that a building once stood on this street corner, so the frame must have been hidden from view for many years. Must have been quite the discovery when the building came down x.com/i/status/20443…

A Mouse nearly #TwitterSnap thanks to @barry_wizard. A regular visitor to Mouse's timeline as it's such an unusual find. But this time with a twist. The cruck was lost to memory until the building shown foreground in the adjacent photo was demolished TTM🐭 (Wonderful #Wirksworth)

Interesting wall, masonry constructed around a cruck truss - how far off the ground does it need to be to be considered a raised cruck? The nearby sign states that it "probably" dates from the late medieval period; St. John's Street, Wirksworth #woodensday #WallsonWednesday

We've just launched it! Our 295 page report detailing how it is possible to build Britain's first city in over 50 years. People doubt Britain can do anything big. But this work shows the UK can be incredibly ambitious and solve real, and urgent problems. We just need to think a little more creatively. Here's what it finds: 1. Forest City would generate £53bn in output each year. That's a huge value add to the bottom line of the economy and more than the combined output of Oxford, Cambridge and Leeds. 2. It would create the largest single nature reserve on English soil. An amazing legacy for future generations and the environment. 3. 400,000 fully affordable homes to buy and rent that people under 40 who are desperately struggling to afford any sort of life, can ACTUALLY afford. 4. Major solutions to the East of England's road, rail and water infrastructure issues, paid for by the building of the City itself. Right now, @mhclg is studying the findings. We want to thank the 40 experts who helped put this together over the last five months. They are true radicals and pioneers all. Below is my reading of the introductory chapter so do have a listen.

WTF is going on? I thought they were supposed to be removing the awful non compliant barriers but instead they are spaffing more money blocking strong desire lines. Just needs 10 mins with an angle grinder.
