#DisabilityAwareness
#ChildrenNeverForget
Monday 11 March 2024 I told the learner's at Bains Primary school during my #SchoolsDisabilityTalkProgramme
that when they see me out there they must come and talk to me. They must not run away or laugh at anyone with a disability.
#ThisIsMyStory
I was about to cross the road when
I heard little voices "Hello ma'am, hello ma'am" I looked back & saw a group of learners smiling & running to meet me. I stopped to figure out what the excitement was all about. I prepared myself for anything to come because I've learnt that children have an unpredictable behaviour. This behaviour is the results of how they have raised at home, school and the communities they come from. I held my breath with a big smile 🤔 with a little fear wondering what drama I was going to encounter but when they got to me the first thing they did was to remind me that I visited their school to talk about #PWDs I smiled with excitement 😊 and I couldn't believe it that they remembered what I taught them. They all narrated to me what I said that day. This gave give hope❤️ Yes children are tomorrow's leaders if we teach them well.
#Dear Parents and teachers always remember that children never forget what we teach them. These amazing children are now alert about #PWDs

● A child with #Disabilities often spends hours being taught how to interact with others... but why don't we spend time teaching those without disabilities how to interact with them? - Colleen Peterson
My vision for my
#SchoolsDisabilityTalkProgramme have conversations with learners about #Disability + #PeopleWithDisabilities using #Storytelling method & allowing the learners to ask questions on anything about Disability and they get to share what they have heard about #PWDs

@MenInBlazers How I wish we could see more influential people had time to inspire other people, especially recognising people with disabilities & showing how important they are to our communities.

@Sightsavers One of the best ways to tackle disability issues. If only everyone could just see how amazing people with disabilities are, very special, big hearts. Respect for this initiative

@ElishaMrG2123 Proud of your sir, it is also clear from those responses that there is need for more awareness and educating people about disabilities. Society still think people with disabilities can't live independently kkķkkk. Keep on keeping on.

Rural areas are the main culprits of such. Children with disabilities are jst not being included

@tee_marve @fortunechasi @EduCannotWait @MoPSEZim @IAMQUEENLATIFAH @Wamagaisa @edmnangagwa @HStvNews @TNHZ_Trust @DarkForceGirl01 @GwayiGono @cazawaty Everyone who is disabled or is vulnerable, has a right to get BEAM from Government. @OMpslsw also is making sure that all students with disabilities get their uniforms, stationery and accessories paid for by the State. We're leaving no one behind in education.

In Mash Central 6 pupils with albinism in just Mazowe & Guruve district are not in school💔💔, its heart-breaking, access to education must be mandatory if we are real in our efforts to end poverty, Who is eligible to benefit from BEAM facility?, l wonder @fortunechasi @mcbaudy

@signsofhopezim @WCOZIMBABWE @ShamwariyeMwana @GlobalSpotlight @WomenRightsIntl @AdultRapeClinic @NASCOHZW1 This is terrible, whre are the organisations that are always up and about rights. This is a serious issue and it's happening in many other families. Let us come together make noise and put an end to such abuses.
English

This is the plight of many women with disabilities, some with mental health challenges. This does nothing but protect a perpetrator 😭😭😭. Stop abusing women. #MandatorySentenceNow

An 8yr old girl akubviswa chibereko because she was repeatedly raped by her mom's brother & granny ignored her when she reported💔. He went on to rape the 5yr old sister & 7 yr old brother. Parents divorced & both remarried partners who didn't want these kids to be with them...
English

@NkomwaTrust It is very true and very sad. We need a multi-disciplined approach to address this challenge. It is not jst the parents fault bt everyone involved that is from the highest offices to the family level. When society blames the already emotionally drained parents it only gets worse
