@RTWBarefoot@kate_frankie I was thinking more of microplastics, overreliance on AI and extreme weather events, but I guess it all shakes out. #PTTravel
@findinganeish@kate_frankie Ah see, I don't think it is! Sure there's a few places we're ill-advised to visit, but back then it felt like half the world was a no-go zone. #pttravel
[I did a podcast on it once. Because obviously!]
@kate_frankie It's been a blast, folks. I only really use Twitter now for DMs, but I can be found using the same handle on IG, Threads & BlueSky (though I hope to eventually settle on just one). Failing that, I exist in the real world, too, if anyone ever finds themselves in Dundee. #PTTravel
@kate_frankie It was, though. There was such a buzz between 2012-2019. It felt like your life could change just by logging on. Twitter was full of interesting people, exciting opportunities and endless knowledge and expertise. What a time to be online. #PTTravel
@kate_frankie A5. I would love a big explosion in the number of (good) European capsule hotels. Also, WiFi on planes as standard and more countries following Luxembourg, Germany and Spain in trialling free/discounted rail fares. #PTTravel
@travelexx@rebhalp I love the idea of cutting out flights to Europe but it just doesn't feel feasible from Scotland yet. But, yes, once on the continent it's rail and Flixbus all the way! #PTTravel
@rebhalp The network is growing and its getting easier and easier to get around Europe by train. Sometimes it's going to be a tough decision to fly just to save a bit of annual leave - like I may have to in April. But ideally no flights to Europe as a rule #pttravel
@kate_frankie A4. Honestly, the last decade wouldn't have been what it was without #PTTravel and other travel chats on Twitter, back when social media felt inspiring, the world welcoming and the future exciting. It's been a privilege to share stories online and occasionally meet in person.
@kate_frankie Yeah, it's hard to get that balance right. I finally reconnected with some old friends this year and it was lovely, but I'd really like to use 2025 to make some new connections. It seems like only I can spend a trip hostelling and still not meet anyone. #PTTravel
@kate_frankie A3. One thing that really inspires me to travel is wildlife. I'd still love to photograph an ibex in the Alps, a kookaburra on someone's porch and a deer in Nara. #PTTravel
@rebhalp@kate_frankie I'm not wild about long-haul flights but I'd love to see Tokyo as well. I may have to combine several bucket list trips into one to make it worth the effort. #PTTravel
@kate_frankie A1 Lots of places! Haven’t been able to do long haul trips for quite a few years due to family commitments, hoping to go to Tokyo at some point in the future. #pttravel
@findinganeish@kate_frankie Is that Lerwick? I had the pleasure about 10 years ago, but I'd love to go back and see more of Shetland - and other Scottish islands 🏴
@kate_frankie A2. I'm taking my love of travel, wildlife and photography into the new year but hoping to leave behind a few fears and insecurities. I've become a bit isolated recently and need to engage more and meet new people. #PTTravel
