Magic Next Door

@magicnextdoor_

The life and times of a crazy couple working for Disney and Costco. Just a double leg amputee and her attack Rottweiler living our dreams under the Florida sun.

@roccopumpkin Resorts are meant for resort guests, not the general public. The resorts are also meant for guests with dining reservations or other paid experiences happening at that resort, not the general public.

@magicnextdoor_ I don’t think it’s appropriate for you to act like locals visiting resorts while not staying there was somehow breaking rules. It was never against the rules and in fact has been encouraged and enabled by Disney itself for years.

The upcoming changes to Disney’s transportation shows the divide between locals that actually stay on property and are capable of following the rules and your locals who think Disney is just an extension of their backyard and they should be able to free roam whenever they want.

@2005WhiteSox05 @OdysseyJurassic College program kids have buses that are specifically only for them to go to and from work. If they want to traverse Disney property on their own time there are other options.

@magicnextdoor_ @OdysseyJurassic Because a lot of cast members don’t have cars especially college program. They rely on Disney transportation to get around property. Ubers are to expensive and not feasible

I get it’s gonna be crowded over the summer, but making this PERMANENT?!?!! This is gonna cause so many problems not only doe guests, but for cast members as well Honestly I cant be too surprised considering this is the company that just hates everyone
WDWMAGIC.COM@wdwmagic

Resort bus verification at Disney Springs is expected to become permanent. Cast Members will scan MagicBands to confirm a valid resort stay, dining res, or recreation activity before boarding. Rollout expected before the July 4 holiday week.

@EddieGarrison My lady is a double above knee amputee so please believe the DAS abuse is the most infuriating thing to us. All this other stuff is secondary. LOL.

@magicnextdoor_ Preaching to the choir there with D.A.S., mate. Although I don’t pay to park with my AP. So when we do visit resorts, we just walk, Skyliner, Uber, etc. but we typically spend more than a room for a few nights on dinner & drinks. I do get & respect your point.

@EddieGarrison How did DAS get ruined? People who didn’t even need it abused it to death so now practically nobody can get it. Same thing is happening here now. People are once again taking advantage of their proximity to the parks to ruin something primarily meant for actual paying guests.

@magicnextdoor_ 100% agree. As a local, I do love having Disney four miles from my home. But I also don’t treat it as many do, to your point. Bad apples ruin the bushel I’m sorry to say. I can drink somewhere else for FAR cheaper!

@EddieGarrison You’re 100% correct. It has zero to do with locals VS tourists. Like I said, there are your locals who can follow the rules and your locals who think that Disney is their nightly bar crawl and that they should be allowed where ever whenever they want.

@magicnextdoor_ Respectfully, this isn’t a locals vs. tourists issue. Many locals are AP & DVC members who spend thousands at Disney every year. Wanting reasonable access to transportation & resort areas doesn’t mean people think Disney is their backyard. It means we’re customers too.

We need to shout this from the rooftops as loudly as possible. WE 👏 DONT 👏 WANT 👏 THIS If they expand it beyond Disney Springs you literally won't be able to travel anywhere without having the exact authorization. So yes, it is death to resort hopping. The amount of money they're going to lose and the amount of guests they're going to inconvenience from this move is utterly insane. Reportedly this is to 'cut back' on the amount of busses and bus drivers resort-wide.

@OdysseyJurassic Yeah, these are non-issues. Sorry. Just book a resort reservation or dining reservation. It’s not hard.

Be worried about Resort hopping IF they update this on their website. If not, carry on. I honestly don’t think they want to axe Resort hopping, they want to have folks actually pay for parking to do so.

Nobody is “mad” I t’s just that quite literally everyone within the Disney realm knows you’re lying. Tell that story to people who are clueless about Disney and maybe they’ll believe you. 🤷🏽‍♂️

@ogorangebird Yup. Abuse DAS? Change DAS so practically nobody can have it. Abuse the transportation system? Limit it to real guests only. Don’t be mad at Disney. Be mad at all your influencer buddies with their “hacks” and fake disabilities.

@BrerOswald @wdwmagic That's why I'm surprised that Disney even cares about this. There's probably like 15-20 people who actually do that per day. I understand having this during holiday weekends, but doing this as a regular thing makes no sense. They're cracking down on something that barely exists.

@magicnextdoor_ @CbCtravels @scottxavier What’s with the obnoxiousness? I get Disney trying to close the loophole, but for those who are not AP it costs $35 to park at the TTC. It seems like a bit of an exorbitant expense just to grab at a drink at a lounge.

If everybody knows how to make a dining or resort reservation then nobody should have a problem. It’s very simple.
