No billionaire actually built a billion dollar company through hard work. Apple’s cofounder said the garage story is a myth. Bezos got a $300k investment from his parents. Google’s founders were Stanford grads with access to venture capital. Stop promoting the bootstrap ideology.

Why is equitable distribution so important when we keep getting richer and more capable of living good lives through capitalism? Do you think a poor person from 1909, transported to today, would care about distribution of wealth, or be amazed by the luxuries we take for granted?

I can't stop thinking about how strange it is that large language models are what leads to AGI. it's really weird. it's a form of summoning, almost necessarily, the capabilities you want from a map of reality mediated by words. there are a trillion minds inside an LLM, and we just so happen to have defined a piece of fiction (the assistant) that can write itself into being. In the context of the obvious speed-up of capabilities - I'm really feeling it right now. Things are strange! Very beautiful. Best of all possible worlds. But very strange.
