@OzTeslaGuy @Tesla It’ll only take a few accidents or a serious one on FSD Down Under for our regulators to bin it. At this rate, it’s bound to happen. My car still regularly tries to go around roundabouts the wrong way if there’s no island in the lead-up.

OPINION: @Tesla FSD (Supervised) was released in AUNZ 6 months ago today. It was met with great excitement from the AUNZ Tesla community. Especially being the first RHD market for FSD. The version released was 13.2.9. The US soon after (early October) got v14. Over the last 6 months, the US have been receiving steady updates to v14 to the point where it’s practically ready for Unsupervised. For us, we’re still on v13.2.9. We haven’t received a single update over the last 6 months. On top of this, the promised HW3 update is no-where to be seen. I love FSD. I use it every day, but the lack of updates is hurting the profile of FSD in AUNZ. Many people have stopped using it because they don’t completely trust it. It has issues. Those of us who use it every day have had to learn when to trust it and when not to. The only communication we’ve seen about v14 is that it’s “in simulation” testing. No time lines, no indication of HW3. Meanwhile the US keep getting further and further ahead with their constant release cycle. Now it looks like we’re days away from Europe getting FSD and I’m sure it will be v14. @TeslaAUNZ and @elonmusk, you really need to start investing in more resources into the development and testing of FSD in the RHD market. I know it’s a lot smaller market, but we risk on falling further and further behind and as we all know, this is about safety. With the outright purchase of FSD ending here at the end of this month (in about 13 days), we really need more clarity on the rollout of v14 and HW3 so we can make an informed decision.

Using FSD in Australian carparks usually doesn't work, so I decided to test it in the Southern Hemisphere's largest shopping centre carpark. Here's what happened:

@MisirStan @MikeBre14267200 @EVCurveFuturist Yeah our grid is mostly natural gas powered. Although in the last quarter of 2025 renewables provided just over 50% of all energy here. EVs are cheap to fill but not suited for everyone’s driving habits. Especially here in AU.

Driving electric is up to 4× cheaper than petrol. 100 km costs: ⛽Petrol: $22–$33 ⚡EV (home, 6pm): $5.90 ☀️EV (midday solar): $1.20 Same distance. Massive difference. Plus no servicing or oil changes. Around $4k saved every year —a family holiday instead of fuel bills.⚡

@MisirStan @MikeBre14267200 @EVCurveFuturist I don’t have a battery but have a very old 2kw solar array. I charge overnight at $0.19/kWh. Approx $15 to charge my car 0-100% (which I never need to) which equates to a realistic distance of over 500km. My VW would be $153 to fill (98 RON).

@mato_benko @13arm13arm @elonmusk @aelluswamy @Tesla @TeslaAUNZ That could be the reason. But I don’t believe we have a completely unique RHD model. I think we have a model with inverted inputs/outputs and refinement for local conditions like hook turns. They could have done the same with 12.6.4.

@ph0nebooth @13arm13arm @elonmusk @aelluswamy @Tesla @TeslaAUNZ Probably because Tesla started learning FSD for right-hand drive a bit late, starting with HW4. There's no point in learning the old software for driving on the opposite side. So we can only hope that some v14 lite will be available later for HW3 and right-hand drive.

@Tslachan My guess is no. Tesla planned to launch FSD in Australia a couple of months earlier than it actually launched.

@NathanZYoung @Ryie422 @ryanjaycowan @TeslaAUNZ Fines for what? The regulators know about it. Tesla’s communication with various state transport regulators in the lead-up to FSD in Australia has been released under FOI.

Meet Ian, 68 years old. He just bought his first EV, a Tesla with FSD. He wrote to me about what a life-changing experience it has been: “I have Parkinson’s and FSD is a godsend. It really helps me by not needing to constantly keep my foot on the accelerator pedal.”

@TeslaAUNZ FSD Supervised is a great product but lots of unsafe manouvres being performed with v13.2.9 in Australia. Hopefully you have v14 coming here soon, otherwise I suspect many will start unsubscribing.

@mrMDofficial @TeslaAUNZ Not sure what ‘regional considerations’ means? We already have FSD and HW3 cars have summon.

BREAKING🇯🇵 : First Tesla FSD experience on Japanese public roads in Tokyo. It's handling Japan's unique road environment smoothly. Now, we're just waiting for official approval from the authorities. Big step for Japan's mobility future! Here are some clips from my camera.

@OzTeslaGuy V14 probably after March 31 if not sooner. Pretty sure we’ll see 2026.2.9 or at least a branch of it. V14 lite, no idea!

@Rustavi I think 2026.2.9 contains FAD 14.2.2.5. There are vehicles in the USA running that software load with FSD 14.2.2.5. Normally non FSD releases are a seperate software version. I’d say this is in preparation for your FSD launch.

🚨Tesla is now rolling out 2026.2.9 in Europe (~10 GB huge) with only the official Autopilot name change. Navigate on Autopilot to Navigate on Autosteer, FSD Computer to AI Computer. But come on… 10 GB just for some text changes? It's speculation, I know, and we'll have to wait and see how it rolls out if the RDW gives approval, but personally, I think that this is clearly way more. I think full FSD Supervised v14.2.2.5 is baked in (neural nets, arrival options, speed profiles, everything). For anyone who already purchased FSD, it’s pre-installed and just server side locked. Pure preparation for instant activation the moment RDW (and EU) gives the green light. Musk already hinted at March, possibly March 20. The name change makes it more regulation friendly (less full self-driving vibe where it’s still supervised). Flip the flag and, FSD live in NL and then probably cascading via mutual recognition across EU. Tesla pushes the software ahead so they can activate within days/weeks after approval. No new mega download needed. Classic Tesla playbook. I think that this isn’t a bug fix, or only a name change, this is countdown to launch. 🇳🇱🇪🇺 #Tesla #FSD #RDW #TeslaEurope #FSDSupervised

@TeslaAUNZ @grok It’s amazing but you know what would be more amazing? Giving us FSD v14 while we’re paying the same money your US customers are. Not a single patch on 13.2.9. Still doing the same unsafe stuff it was doing almost 6 months ago.

@13arm13arm After the update which included navigation suggestions mine popped up with my family home as a suggestion. Which was sold over 10 years ago. No idea where it got the address. Didn’t use calendar integration at the time. So weird.

@ryanjaycowan Hi Ryan, I'm a journalist at The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age working on an article about Australians who are using FSD to hear their thoughts on how it operates. Would you be open to being interviewed for an article?
