@BBCWorld I'd say the lack of widebodies with Indian Carriers is not a scandal; rather, that's putting it too lightly, it's criminal. India can easily be a global aviation hub; it has all the required ingredients.

While I don't normally agree with Willie Walsh, I do agree with these points: Walsh highlighted a major gap in long-haul capacity. "When you think about it, it's a country of 1.4 billion and counting. But they only had 50 widebody aircraft in the country last year. So that's probably - you could describe it as a scandal," he said. "They should be much bigger than that. And I think they will be much bigger than that going forward." Walsh also pointed to a significant opportunity for Indian carriers to expand their global footprint. "India has depended on transferring people over the Gulf hubs, particularly into North America," Walsh said. "So that's a huge opportunity for Indian carriers to grow their presence on the global scale."

@SpaethFlies @airindia @IndiGo6E There may be a deeper reason, however Indian carriers are certainly NOT unmanageable. With Air India delayed widebody refits are a major issue effecting yeilds.

@rishiviate If they can get Turkish Airlines CEO it would be great. Politics aside, Turkish Airlines is one of the biggest and best connectors in the world. They have flights to more countries in the world than anyone else.

Any ideas on who Campbell Wilson's successor might be? He has done a lot of the heavy lifting at Air India, will be a lot easier for the next incumbent. It needs to be someone who can take the fight to the Gulf Carriers.

@rishiviate Things would have been totally different if Pakistan's airspace hadn't been closed & them having control of AIESL. It's really sad to see him exit so early after everything he's contributed.
