I've never believed a suppressor should qualify as a *defensive* weapon until today. Having one meant he was likely able to pour fire on the killer without revealing his location. The killer was armed with an assault rifle, a good thing to hide from. Since the exception disproves the rule, I suppose, now I have to grant that civilian ownership of suppressors makes sense under the Second. Not that anyone's askin' me!

I have been so blessed with the best dog in the history of the species. He guards our house like he's Tom Homan on steroids. He has never been destructive, even as a puppy. The most he'll do is dig up the throw rugs when he's home alone. He only eats when I feed him. I could leave a steak sitting out on the coffee table, and he wouldn't touch it unless I handed him a bite. He never jumped up on counters for food, even when he was young enough to do that. Anyone who has a lab knows that this is an incredible, unthinkable level of restraint, practically a superpower. And I can't even take credit for it. He's always been this way since the first day I brought him home. Training had nothing to do with it. Finally, I don't know why, but he has never been scared of loud noises. Fireworks? No problem. Thunderstorm? Bring it on. He is the most chill dog ever. (Except when someone rings the doorbell, of course.) So when I say that the thunderclaps in Virginia today were so loud that my dog actually yelped and ran to hide under the bed, you know that they were pretty frakking loud! I half expected to see Thor or Zeus standing outside my front door. The storm is over, and all is right with the sleepy doggo world once again. Especially after he had a few bites of fried chicken.
