Even when dimmed, a standard incandescent filament still produces plenty of shorter wavelength. Orange and yellow come to mind, but blue and green matter more, even though they’re found in smaller amounts I love incandescents, so don’t get me wrong. This is simply a way to improve upon regular incandescent use at night That blue/green window (roughly 450–550 nm) is the sweet spot for melanopsin, the non-visual opsin which signals to your brain that it’s daytime When you sit under full wattage regular incandescents, endogenous circulatory melatonin does take a hit It’s nowhere near as brutal as conventional LEDs or fluorescents, but enough to blunt secretion, delay circadian timing, and impact sleep quality This is where the red incandescent comes into the picture for lighting at night When a bulb is designed with a true red glass filter or engineered to emit primarily long wavelengths (>600 nm), the disruptive portion of the spectrum essentially DISAPPEARS Red and infrared light at lower intensities barely register on melanopsin. Their impact on melatonin suppression is orders of magnitude lower than standard incandescents. @MandiMartLtd When another company creates a LED lightbulb with artificial infrared and calls it an “Incandescent LED” it’s purely misleading. I’m simply calling out why no LED can ever compare to a pure and natural incandescent, and why incandescents are by far the healthiest light bulb.

@CholeraFan @treav2000 Ours are 40W and gorgeous if you ever need them. Yes they are on the expensive side but they are built to last and emit far higher quality lighting than other cheaper incandescents and LEDs. Here are some pictures.

@treav2000 @strainlesslight Amazon they're either 15w or crazy expensive. I can buy weed and raw milk in some places too, but that doesn't mean it's ok for them to be illegal. I shouldn't have to go hunting for the light bulb of my choice.
