Oh, you're writing CUDA kernels? Everyone's on Triton now. Just kidding, we're all on Mojo. We're using cuTile. We're using ROCm. We have an in-house DSL compiler targeting the NVGPU MLIR dialect but wait, Tile IR just dropped so we're going to target that instead. Our PM is on TileLang. The team lead was on CuTe but now she's back to handwriting PTX. If you're not on Pallas, you're ngmi. Our intern is building on TT-Metalium for our Wormholes. Our CFO approved an order for some big chungus wafer-scale chips so now we're porting our kernels to CSL. Our CTO is working on a kernel-less graph compiler so we won't need to write kernels anymore. Our CEO thinks we're talking about the Linux kernel. We're building Claude for dogs.

@oxcrowx Great idea to use them to iron out ambiguities, even if you don’t use them for parsing. I remember hearing a few projects doing that. :-)

I have been formalizing the grammar using a Bison / Flex based parser generator, so that it is formally verified to have no ambiguities A critical reason behind ambiguities in rust like syntax are the trailing expressions. My solution is to prefix them with ok. Bison is happy.

@opdroid1234 I was considering it last year but it would only be short term as I have family here that I want to be able to look after in the future.

I am clicking on the video of a guy youtube has recommended to me for half a decade. I have always avoided them because I did not like his thumb nails. It's on a topic I know a bit about, so I will be able to judge him. Wish me luck.

I have been dreaming of this day for a long time. Arena is now a book publisher, and our first volume, "Silicon" is open for preorders. It's quite unlike anything you've seen: a coffee table book capturing the ecstatic beauty of silicon technology. arenamag.com/silicon

which books are very overrated? I'll start: "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy was the worst piece of writing I had the displeasure of reading

@HSVSphere Yeah, someone pointed this out to me the other day when I was making fun of the indentation. They write code that generates C++ and CUDA, and were explaining how the GNU style is actually more consistent.

The GNU indentation style actually makes sense... No I haven't been brainwashed, I jusy thought about it It's 2 spaces, but blocks don't get special treatment in if bodies, so you get: if (foo) { bar };

@evacchi It’s a shame you didn’t ship it earlier. You gave up the first-mover advantage to GStack.

@chipsandpol That’s probably true. But if my mates and I vibe hard enough and NZ has lots of artisanal hand coding boomers like @LewisCTech, we may be able to win.
