If Dems win in 2028 I want to see huge constitutional changes so that this can *never happen again. The current system is trashed.

@Boadicea12 @TimothyDSnyder I’m not a lawyer, but I believe if you wanted to make him accountable for treason, the only mechanisms are impeachment & removal, or the 25th amendment if there’s evidence he’s impaired (which there is). Neither of those options are feasible.😢

I know it's hard to take our eyes off the Middle East, but it's worth glancing over at Hungary to see our autocratic position in action. We're staunchly aligned with Orban. Just like Putin is. This is not just Trump, but Trump 2.0. In fact, Vance is there personally right now. Brazil ousted Bolsonaro and jailed him over Trump's objection. Hungary is poised to oust Orban. The election is April 12. Will it be free and fair? Will the Orban government accept a loss? What Hungary represents is what Trump 2.0 wants to model America on - yes, we have elections, but they are controlled and the State never relinquishes power. Hungary under Orban has been a big thorn to Ukraine. Hungarians are unhappy and have seen through the repression and gaslighting. What happens there, is crucial. That Vance is there, is telling.

This would be a good time for: a.) STRATCOM commanders who implement orders to fire nuclear missiles to read up on Nuremberg and prosecutions for obeying orders to commit war crimes; and b.) for cabinet members to reread the 25th Amendment and have each other on speed dial.

My good friend Dave in the UK tells me that Trump's ultimatums, disturbing as they are, are less disturbing than the continued enablement by the GOP. He says the global mindset among politically astute pro-democracy world citizens, is that it's the GOP that is killing America. Nobody weeps for the Iranian regime, Dave says, but the world sees the Iranian people as real flesh and blood people with families and dreams and emotions, but the GOP as purely motivated by politics and political gain, and Trump and his cabinet as unchecked sociopaths.

We don’t need punditry from you, Senator. We need you to call for, and take, action: call for 25th amendment, call for impeachment, organize protests, *do* something.

Call me crazy, but we shouldn't have to wake up every day trying to figure out if the president of the United States is trying to manipulate the market or start a nuclear war.

Retired Lt. Col. Rachel VanLandingham said it clearly on PBS: threatening to bomb every bridge and power plant in Iran is itself a war crime. Not just reckless talk. A crime. Why? Because terrorizing a civilian population through rhetoric violates the law of war. And the law of war is U.S. law. Here’s the part nobody wants to say out loud: our own State Department used this exact legal standard to condemn Putin for targeting Ukrainian power plants. Same act. Same law. Different flag. Words have consequences — and so does hypocrisy.
