He accrued extra interest during the pandemic because he took time out of studying to help with the Covid response. And Kieran, a young solicitor who calculated that he’ll have to pay a total of £250,000 on a initial loan of less than £30,000 because the interest keeps going up and up. He pays back £3,500 a year, of which £3,200 is just interest. But his wealthier friends don’t pay a penny because their parents just paid their uni fees for them outright. “Fair”, @RachelReevesMP? I begin 2026 with my mother in intensive care after she could not access a GP in time. Antibiotics failed. Appointments were unavailable. She was blocked at the administrative stage. This is the NHS people are living with now.
