The same thought had crossed my mind, but after the schadenfreude wore off I then thought no, too risky, too complex, and at the moment entirely unnecessary. Europe needs to be strong in Europe. I genuinely think thats all they are equipped to do and that’s just reality. Say we do leave, without us they would have no parity with their rivals and their economies would have to fundamentally change, and they would still likely enter a recession for a decade. They would be fractured and vulnerable to probing or god forbid partition. That is what losing America’s nuclear umbrella means. That is just a losing position all around.
