@CineramaSave @DanMellen @francysromeroFR He’s hitting .234, doesn’t walk much, and strikes out a ton. 34% clip. Very hard profile to turn into MLB success.
English

@Insert4F @TheMaximusArt @mitch32579 @francysromeroFR Meh. The stats say these things are hard to predict. Cal struck out almost the exact same amount as Laz when he was in AA and he was older and didn't hit for nearly as much power. What did the stats say about him?
English

@TheMaximusArt @DanMellen @mitch32579 @francysromeroFR Ron Kittle - career .240 hitter with .770 OPS. Sounds about like the DH/platoon RF we all should be projecting him to be. The stats say dude is not Alvarez or anything remotely near it.
English

@chay_4300 @MarinersSteve Alford is already in Tacoma. Beilenson is the other guy I'd think about promoting.
English

Michael Arroyo getting promoted too, Arroyo in Double A Arkansas:
.287/.364/.456
10 HR
125 wRC+
.820 OPS
Daniel Kramer@DKramer_
Mariners news over at @MLBPipeline: Both Lazaro Montes and Michael Arroyo are being promoted to Triple-A Tacoma, according to a source. Montes is their No. 3 prospect (Pipeline’s No. 26 overall) and Arroyo is No. 4 (No. 43 overall).
English

@MarinersSteve Yay! Keep them together. I love them as a pair. What about Kade?
English

@mitch32579 @francysromeroFR Cal didn't have a midseason call up from AA to AAA. He finished 2019 in AA and started AAA in 2021 after missing a year for COVID. So Cal definitely didn't have a really shitty week right before he was called to AAA. He hadn't played in a year when he was called up to AAA.
English

@DanMellen @francysromeroFR Cal was hitting worse than Laz in double a when he was promoted. Laz will be fine in a hitter league
English

@mitch32579 @francysromeroFR I'm mostly looking at all the strike outs. In his last 16 ABs, he's Ked 11 times. Just one week. But that is a BAD week. And his OPS for the week is .730. Nobody does more with less contact than Laz. Still. Just seems odd to me.
English

@DanMellen @francysromeroFR The OPS is 920.
Dont put stock in the BA.
English

@MiLBMariners Me too. Bremner signed for bout $2 mil less than Kade so Angels signed two high school pitchers to overslots. I wouldn't trade Kade for Bremner and two lotto tickets. And the Mariners pulled that off for Sloan while getting slot in the first. Angels just plain did it wrong.
English

@DanMellen I believe they took Bremner 2nd because he agreed to taking an under-slot deal & they’d use the extra money on other picks. I’d rather just take the best player drafting that high.
English

Final line for the #2 overall pick in the 2025 draft Tyler Bremner vs the AquaSox:
2IP, 5H, 6R, 3BB, 4K, 1 grand slam HR, 58 pitches, 36 strikes.
English

TBC - this is no shade at Switch at all.
But I mean this has kind of been clear, no? Where exactly are you expecting the team to throw resources at?
A RHH and 1-2 mid to high leverage arms isn’t an aggressive deadline but is exactly what the team needs.

English

@thejagepage Seriously, what would Jo Adell and Kirby Yates cost? And if the Angels refuse to be reasonable, Taylor Ward or even Joey Wiemer would put us in position to kick Robbie Refs off the roster. Can't imagine they'd even cost a major prospect.
English

@JxGilly @Mitch_Seattle @Pickletee2 I think you're going per at bats and I'm going per plate appearance.
English

@DanMellen @Mitch_Seattle @Pickletee2 His K rate last year vs LHP was 25.86% (15Ks on 58ABs)
In 2024 he was 0-13 with 8K’s against LHP which is a 61.54% K rate
English

@JxGilly @Mitch_Seattle @Pickletee2 Is that in his career? The last two years, his K rate against lefties hasn't been nearly that high. 22.1% last year and 24.1% this year. His K rate against righties is 20.2% so it's higher, but not by nearly as much as you're saying.
English

@Mitch_Seattle @Pickletee2 @DanMellen Fair enough. I think what scares me the most with him is he goes from a 22.7% k rate to 31.8% against LHP. I’m all for giving him full opportunities against LHP until he proves he can’t.
English

@Mitch_Seattle @Pickletee2 @JxGilly Eh, you still said it in a pretty jackassy way. Maybe instead of just saying "Not true", you could've said "That was before he went 1 for 1 off a lefty today."
English

@Pickletee2 @JxGilly @DanMellen Perhaps I’m not a jackass and those stats don’t include today’s hit bs a left hander which raises his avg versus LH to .273
English

@Mitch_Seattle Because I was curious, here are his last two years' numbers combined: .266/.386/.392 and the power is much higher this year than last year. Anybody think Refsnyder can match that? Didn't think so.
English

@Mitch_Seattle He's only batting .238 against lefties, but his on base is .429 and his slug is .524. Last year, he was .276/.368/.345. Small sample (96 PAs in the two years combined), but I agree; time to give him a big sample and see what happens. He earned it.
English

@PrRolanThunder @tfabulous1313 @RyanDivish It makes sense if he's proposing dealing one of our current 6. Deal Luis, go with a 5 man, and if there's an injury, bring up Kade. If two guys get hurt, it's a real problem, but I would understand the logic of that.
English

@DanMellen @tfabulous1313 @RyanDivish If you add Kade now, it’s another piggyback scenario. 7 strong arm rotation makes no sense.
Stick to cheering for the team.
English

Asked if it was difficult to piggyback Gilbert considering how well he’s pitching now, Wilson replied:
“we've talked about it — this group doing this for the team and what that means for the team, and why we're doing t. I think Logan understands that, we all understand that, and I think we'll be fine.”
Ryan Divish@RyanDivish
Per Dan Wilson, the rotation for the weekend will be: Friday — Luis Castillo Saturday — Logan Gilbert/Emerson Hancock Sunday — George Kirby. It’s always subject to change.
English

@TheCradleZone Any lineup like this that doesn't include Jon Trenge is blasphemy.
English

@tfabulous1313 @RyanDivish How is Kade being awesome related to the piggyback? Are you saying we should trade a starter and not worry about losing depth because if someone else gets hurt, we'll just bring up Kade?
English

@RyanDivish I think it’s dumb. Especially when Kade is throwing heat in Tacoma
English

@MarinerMuse If Brennan Davis was healthy, maybe it would've happened already?
English

Joe was quite bad over the weekend, so I can’t get too worked up over keeping Refsnyder
The move can’t be much longer
