I am convinced that the root cause of the CofE's many challenges is spiritual. We risk believing that money (or strategy, or safeguarding) will solve the various presenting problems, without asking the deeper questions - ultimately about our understanding of the Holy Spirit.

As someone who was involved, I’m tempted to say the LLF process was a waste of time in #churchofengland but I think it taught us the humility that if we depart from God’s way and word, we divide. If we do not listen, we harm. A tool of sanctification even if woefully inadequate.

If the #ChurchofEngland had a house of prophets, not just a #houseofbishops, we would never be in this mess as Anglicans. The teaching oversight office without the prophetic office cannot stand. The kings needed the prophets. Imagine David without Nathan, Saul without Samuel.

This week, we said goodbye to the Gibson Building, our home for over a decade. The Faculty of Theology and Religion has been home to a vibrant academic community for over 800 years. We’re excited to continue this legacy in the new Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities!
